  • Imagine getting Nuremberg'ed for playing as Germany in HOI4 (and trying the historical route).

I mean, beyond the obvious that child abuse is never condonable, this particular action circles back to questions like "does video games cause violence?" and the role of the state in administering justice.

    The below aren't mutually exclusive

    • Abusing anyone is bad
    • State power can and do overreach
  • Tatakae!

  • Hanae Natsuki as Qifrey? Not what I've imagined, but he's a solid VA.

  • Very funny episode. The main gag has a fake out and a bombastic punch line. Consider the cast lucky they're in a comedy anime.

I miss the original VA of the hard boiled guy (RIP also Old Joseph Joestar VA), but the new one does the job well enough.

Also, Ginpachi does smoke, it's not a lollipop that he licks fast enough that it smokes.

  • My thesis on why Nazis are attracted to K-On is that low-stakes CGDCT can unintentionally serve as aestheticization of politics.

Fascism attempts to organize the newly proletarianized masses without affecting the property structure which the masses strive to eliminate.

This is opposed to "politicization of art" i.e. "art is ultimately subordinate to political life and thus a result of it, separate from it, but which is attempted to be incorporated for political use as theory relating to the consequential political nature of art", like how art is utilized in Communist societies.

  • The ending of Code Geass is worth it and I consider it among the top-tier endings in anime.

  • Bang Dream: It's MyGo!!!!! may have some rough animation and VA work, but its narrative climax with the Utakotoba scene in Episode 10 hits very hard in the feels...

  • The comedy has more misses than hits this time; it reminds now that as a spinoff, it won't reproduce Sorachi's brand of humor all the time. I think it's because the skit should take half an episode instead of the full length.

However, it's compensated by the class's efforts to give both Shinpachi and Otae a proper sendoff. It's touching that they want to see the former's straight man act one last time. He also unwittingly fulfilled his wish not to transfer just by being himself (and giving his "aunt" the push to confess to her crush and later get married).

I just realized way too late, Otae is way older than Shinpachi, but why are they both in 3-Z?

Next episode teases the hard-boiled detective. I hope the replacement VA pulls it off.

  • If the high seas dries up, are we up shit creek and have to stream?

Actually support people who distribute under more reasonable terms/use Creative Commons/release to public domain.

  • The love of money. Making a profit is not enough, it has to be growing and accelerating all the time.

  • The canonical Prince Hata has some redeeming qualities. This Principal has none as an utterly corrupt school head. But at least he contributed to giving Ginpachi a chance to pose.

  • They're not beating the "Frieren is an ecchi anime" allegations in my book. 😆 (it's not just the vore part btw)

  • That it's illegal/a crime in the books to begin with is a problem. Even more so if the punishment is disproportionate to the damages an owner can claim. There's a reason for that: the current copyright implementation is the closest thing to an infinite money glitch in real life.

  • Copyright was invented by Brits and spread worldwide by Americans; if it didn’t cater to business owners they wouldn’t have done it.

I have the emphasis on "current" because of exclusive licensing and the lengthening of copyright terms before lapsing to public domain.

    Or © piracy.

That's potentially exposing yourself to financial ruin (see: Nintendo)

  • Crunchyroll on their previous way of subtitling:

Customer on Crunchyroll's new way of subtitling:

It's one more consequence of the current copyright regime being self-servingly catered to business owners. I don't have a solution to this without either (a) exposing yourself to ruin or (b) consciously killing your interest in any commercial creative medium.

It's unlikely you can "save Crunchyroll from itself". It's better for your peace of mind to leave them be and do not participate. They're confident as the "only source of legal consumption of anime" in many places that they do not have the incentive to... ironically... be more creative (which copyright claims to incentivize). It was good while it lasted.

The final gag is sort of predictable, but still funny nonetheless.
