  • I've never had a laptop that hibernates correctly with Linux. Is it something I can achieve with more research or some laptops won't hibernate anyway? I routinely have that shitty experience when I pick up my laptop to see it has no juice left although I didn't use it and it was apparently asleep.

  • I use KDE only. I'll surely give this a try thank you.

  • My laptop has Intel UHD graphics. Things are slightly better since I enabled TLP.

  • Awesome, thanks much.

  • That's very interesting. I thought that intel Wi-Fi cards can't do AP mode anywhere. I had no luck on ubuntu and openwrt. Didn't know Windows could help. I'll try to build a Windows VM with passthrough.

  • Run it on a cheap fanless x86 box instead.

  • You can run a VPN like wire guard, ad blockers such as Adguard Home or pihole or even media servers on your openwrt router.

  • It's a joy to use on x86 hardware though. You can run as many services as you want.

  • Best thing to do is to get a fanless mini PC with multiple ethernet ports and hook up a decent access point to one of those ports.

  • Yes I do. I have hooked up my x86 openwrt router to my fiber modem.

  • Nowadays you can easily run it on a single board computer like the raspberry pi or any x86 mini pcs. You just need to hook up an access point for Wi-Fi which doesn't need to be able to run openwrt.

  • That's exactly what I do. You can keep your ISP router and hook up your openwrt router to one of its lan ports and have two wifi networks.

  • I only know one company that sells routers with openwrt pre-installed. It's called Gl-inet.

  • You can run it on a raspberry pi or an x86 mini pc.

  • Not sure how unusual it is but I run openwrt x86 on a fanless Asus mini PC as my main router at home.

  • He has a retro vibe going on which i like a lot. He reminds me of joy of old-school computing in 2000s.

  • I plan to give it a try.

  • I haven't. Too much for my needs.

  • Shotcut helped me get rid of the heavy, bloated Premiere Pro.
