  • I still think that all jobs are, in general, safe for the foreseeable future. But we will be expected to use AI tools and just produce more and more, so that a few people will gain more and more resources and power.

E.g. as engineers we will do less and less actual planning, but we will run AIs like it were a team of engineer slaves.

And I think this will be similar for other branches. A music composer will run AIs to compose parts of a song, adjust it, readjust other parts, till the song is good. I mean, afaik this is already how much of it works.

  • Tbh money could be the initiative. So many content creators nowadays have platforms beside YouTube. Often even self hosted weboages. If a federated alternative would come up, they could just set up an own server and keep all the earnings.

This would somehow need to get started though. No idea how.

  • They didn't capitulate. They never fought. They just did what was the best shot at earning money and gaining ground at the time.

Don't ever expect moral based behavior in capitalism or geopolitics.

  • I can not understand how people can be social darwinist and still support inheritance, even tax free inheritance. If you want just the fittest to survive, everyone needs to start the same. Same education, same situation at home, same connections of the parents. Social darwinist should support that all children are taken from their parents and be brought up in the same orphanages and are given exactly the same tools.

That said, I can not understand social darwinists at all. Whoever is dumb enough to support this idea is hurting the herd and according to social darwinists...

  • Check them out. Some are great (Cranberries and Blur for example). I also guess you'll know more than you think.

  • Haha, the chat system? That will be a shitshow. Oh my, thank you dessalines@lemmy.ml for creating an alternative. :)

  • Lol, first I hear about paid subreddits (I am not much on reddit since they ended 3rd party apps). This might actually be the end of reddit, if they are really that dumb.

  • Nah, that is not really true. There has been a significant bump due to covid, but before covid IQ test results have shown constant improvements.

That said, I don't think IQ and political idiocy are that strongly correlated. I've met a lot of highly trained people, who would doubtlessly get great IQ test results, who are politically extremely gullible.

That also said, IQ tests are a quite flawed way to assess intelligence.

My personal believe is: This is not about people getting dumber, but about propagandists getting better. I also think that unsteadiness is a way better catalysator for fascism than low intelligence.

  • Lol, how did you get the idea Putin was a leftist?

  • That was pretty much what I meant.

  • It was.

  • Lots of the money comes from the US and US companies. But as you said, it is open source.

  • Linux was awesome 15 years ago. They probably just had driver problems. Those used to be much worse.

  • I get most of my work done on friday afternoons. It is also the only time of the week when I actually enjoy work. Finally I can relax, knowing the phone won't ring. (And I start feuds with anyone who calls me on my workphone on friday afternoons!).

  • P (And E) are for stochastic functions.

  • I was sitting next to my wife for a few hours talking to her (we brought food and so on, so no need for me to go anywhere).

I mean, I would have had time to play games, but I doubt I'd still be married. Tbf, I never even thought about that possibility before seeing this post.

I could maybe understand it, if it was a problematic pregnancy. Like, the wife of a friend of mine had to lie in a hospital bed for several weeks before giving birth to reduce the risk of premature birth. You'll want to spend as much time there as possible, but after sitting in a room together for weeks, this might start to sound like a good idea,

  • I have a kindle, but I never buy my books at Amazon. I just but them elsewhere, de-DRM them on calibre and copy them to the kindle. Not as comfortable, but okay for me.

  • First, what laws are violated? Doubt international law touches this, US law maybe?

edit: Why the F do you downvote me? This is an honest question. I really dislike Trump, but I don't see what laws this violates, except maybe US laws regarding the separation of powers-

  • They really do take 80s and 90s dystopian movies as inspiration. Almost funny how ridiculous unimaginatively evil that are.
