  • I’m decently sure that macOS already does something somewhat similar. If a program wants to access files outside its own directory, you get asked for explicit permission to do that.

  • Though not Chinese, there are companies nowadays offering conversion kits for older, ICE cars. Electric Twingo, here I come!

  • Sounds like the Dutch and Germans aren’t that different after all. Ours also ran over stuff with their tractors, blocked highways, rammed the main entrance of a city hall, and did some casual intimidation at a politician’s home address. Peaceful folk they are.

  • The “normal” forms of protest just don’t cut it anymore. When is the last time you’ve heard about one, let alone seen one? It’s a (relatively) harmless shout for attention for a very dire problem.

  • How is the consumption of meat not a climate change issue? It produces a fuckton of greenhouse gases, uses an immense amount of water, and is actively contributing to monoculture crops in (for example) the Amazon.

  • They don’t have the EUV machines needed to make the most modern chips. Only DUV so far.

  • Well… turns out they have a serial connection from the printer to the cartridge, all in the name of DRM. And you could put nefarious things on the chip of the cartridge, which would then be able to connect to the computer through the printer. All because of them wanting to thwart third party cartridges, so a problem of their own making, basically.

  • We could’ve had those reactors if people didn’t say the same things you’re saying 30 years ago.

  • It’s the share button. Allows… sharing, but also opening in an external app as the other user mentioned.

  • Pretty much the only place where I see them. Let’s hope we can disable it in the future.

  • Isn’t that just social housing? Commercial landlords (particuliere huur) don’t really care that much about requirements, other than you having a certain level of income. (And they might demand a ridiculous income at that)

  • I absolutely love being able to command+c and command+v in my terminals.

  • That meat, dairy, and eggs are essential for a healthy diet.

  • Never gets old how most people never care about nutrition until someone vegetarian/vegan shows up. Then they’re protein and/or B12 deficient, and they’ll die for sure!

  • Docker costs money? What?

  • Neat! In Dutch we have azijnpisser/azijnzeiker which means the exact same thing.

  • I’m afraid they’re talking about the Voron printers, which are really great printers.

  • Very interesting! It’s something I just cannot fathom as a 20-something year old. Granted, I’m a software engineer, but I’m very much like the professors in the article. It’s just so intuitive to me.
