  • It's horrible when you come up with some absurd example that could never happen to use somewhere, and shortly after reality calls your bluff.

  • They need you training AI to make it into a profitable product… that will replace you.

If they really believe in that, they should seek psychological help.

Also, replacing you won't generate enough revenue for keeping the main LLM provides alive. Yes, they are that wasteful.

  • Yeah, it's because it's not the school that is bullshit.

It's some of the stuff people do there. At the same time, some aren't. And we are incredibly bad at telling the difference, and worse than useless on doing that at scale.

  • He didn't even die and come back to life after killing his own father...

    Underwhelming.

  • Most birds will love that you throw bread at them but can't actually eat it...

Most humans will be offended that you throw bread at them, but it's nutritive for them...

If you got the right halves, that's a solid plan.

  • There is an egg and a glass of milk there.

You can probably drop all the rest anyway, they are not adding much. Or just keep a few pancakes.

  • There's a really fun discussion of news commentators on the lines of "Nobody is stupider than Trump, Vance will just be better at being evil" and "Nobody is stupider than Vance, Trump is the one keeping everything in place".

Reality is probably too weird to predict anyway.

  • If you measured the water temperature, the thermometer has a better measurement than the presence of bubbles or not. And it's the temperature that is important, not the bubbles.

  • So... 203 °F = 96 °C...

That's right on the margin where bubbles are really inevitable. It you are heating the water in a very homogeneous way, and has a lid or some salt dissolved, it's possible you don't see any bubble. It's not common, but hey, everybody sees a few uncommon things in their life.

  • Trichloroacetic Acid, Deionized Water

Quite different of a paste-like solution of a unspecified concentration of hydrochloric acid or caustic soda. From your other comment, with the paper, you either are actively trying to get some random person to burn all their skin down or have no idea how chemistry works.

  • Just let C++ die already, and stop pretending it's a reasonable thing to compare other languages with.

If you can't do it in C, you are better in Java, Python, Haskell, whatever.

  • The length of variable and function names should be proportional to the size of the code that can potentially call them. And preferably segmented in namespaces, explicit modules, or something like that.

  • I belong to all of them. Same question.

  • WTF!

There's no rule about joke medical advice that may get people killed, but this seems like a worthy case to make an exception and remove without a rule.

  • Or at least say what's broke...

The worse people are the ones that generate most of the interactions, so every side is biased.

  • At the same time:

"We want the robot to be the scariest thing possible, that the protagonist will never adapt to."

"Yeah! Dog shaped but no dog personality!"

I think we have something with dogs...

  • An Israeli intervention in Iran will end well. No way that can turn badly. None at all.
