  • Wow. I had no idea Mexico was such a major player in exports.

  • Don’t worry, folks. Most of the time, concept cars exist solely to look interesting and get people talking, especially when it’s from a major manufacturer. I’m sure the production model will be much more boring appealing to the masses.

  • I am here to profess my eternal and undying love for this description

Xitter, the steaming remains of Twitter

  • My sympathies to anyone who has to use reddit because their niche community either doesn’t have enough activity or doesn’t exist at all.

I’m more of a casual user who’s just here for the news and memes, so fortunately I don’t have that problem.

  • I just don’t understand this. I mean, I can comprehend the facts, and I acknowledge that it’s true, but I don’t get it.

I don’t understand how something so nauseatingly reprehensible can be alluring, especially on such a large scale. I could almost grasp it if we were talking about a weird, rare kink… but we’re not. It’s way too common, and an open secret among too many people. How can so many people be so incredibly depraved, or even look the other way, when such awful, nightmarish things are happening?

All I can do is shake my head and think to myself “people are fucked up, man.”

  • His allies have called for… perpetuating military draft exemptions for ultra-Orthodox men…

People who are eager to start wars never want to fight in them.

  • Wow. There is a zero percent chance that this is more tiresome sabre-rattling and trash talk from an obnoxious, insecure, possibly unstable dictator.

I have a list of life concerns, and I will immediately add this to the very top of that list. Definitely.

  • When an asshole country “warns” against doing a thing, it can usually be taken as an additional reason to do that thing.

  • That was the trouble - I didn’t know which sources were credible. I do now, though! Thanks!

  • Alarming as this may sound, they’re beating a dead horse. Most of the people who would believe this shit uncritically also think Fox “News” is the gospel truth. They’re already lost.

  • Thank you for this simple, clear, propaganda-free answer. I stopped trying to find one because it was buried under wildly different kinds of bullshit depending on the perspective of who responded. I’m not surprised that OP had to ask.

  • Screwing with international commerce is a great way to get a lot of attention. Unfortunately, it’s also a great way to piss people off. This will lead to more violence than we want - except for the most bloodthirsty and deranged, that is.

  • Probably the best line I have read in any article this month:

I drove back and forth to a bookstore job in an ancient Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais so apocalyptically derelict that when I got pulled over for a busted taillight, the lady cop fixed me with sad eyes and asked "Is everything OK with you?"

  • I’m glad that tired, old trick is getting the skepticism it deserves. Even the slowest among us are realizing that if you’re discussing a non-denominational issue and being called “antisemitic” for it, then maybe the accusation is bullshit. Human rights should not be a religious issue.

  • Here’s the beginning of the Wikipedia article:

Kiwi Farms, formerly known as CWCki Forums, is a web forum that facilitates the discussion and harassment of online figures and communities. Their targets are often subject to organized group trolling and stalking, as well as doxxing and real-life harassment.

    So, it’s an assholefarm.

Although the name originated with one particular site, it looks like the name now applies to any site that serves a similar purpose. Bleah.

  • Good question. I was only talking about my own personal tastes. I don’t know what would be objectively worthy of defederation, because what you’re talking about is fine.

  • Well, a few people have already pointed out the nastiest sounding one, so I’ll go with wolfgirl.bar

Pretty sure I’d want eye bleach after that.

  • Did the veto only exist in the first place because it was necessary to sell the concept of the EU? Telling governments “don’t worry, you’ll be able to veto anything” sounds like an argument you’d need in order to get skeptical countries to join when the EU was new and untested.

In practice, the veto seems like a terrible idea. Any stubborn, selfish head of state can blackmail the entire EU by threatening to veto an important measure.

Now, the EU has proven itself, plus, member states have seen the perils and costs of leaving. There’s much less need to accommodate those who refuse to act in good faith. Getting rid of the veto is an excellent idea.
