  • If Taiwan doesn't fall completely in the first 48h or so, and the US feels ready for the conflict (which I'd expect them to if there's a war) what will happen is that they'll interdict shipping to and from China using anti-ship missiles, which will also make any naval landing difficult. So I expect China to either sucessfully land quickly (and thus, win) or not at all.

Also they'll most certainly bomb TSMC into the stone age, but I haven't seen evidence that this is, explicitly, part of the strategy.

There's also reason to believe that they'll get occupied Korea and Japan to help, but what exactly their role, other than providing weapons and munitions from their stockpiles, is unclear.

  • Imagine making the most expensive game of the time, using one of the biggest IPs, as sequel to one of the best selling series of games, and deciding to make it an inferior clone of WoW.

Then they wonder why it couldn't keep their players.

  • I'm salty that AA games aren't a thing anymore since investors only want the big moneys and indies are all generic pixel art.

  • This will go down well. I don't expect the rest of europe to cooperate more than your average ukrainian

  • Oh look, fake news to make China look bad!

  • Democracy is when you can't vote for who represents your views. Even better if you can be shamed into voting for genocide

  • It's just theatrics. They are as conservative as the Republicans.

  • Ukraine attacking civilians is old news. They love crashing their drones into whatever house is nearby when they fail to find a military target.

  • "Hey, this thing I like is really cool, I wonder how it works?"

Math, loads of math. It is always like that.

  • I'm not unsatisfied and I very much appreciate the work put into proton, but it's rather lame how common it is to have small problems that require tweaking. Just a few days ago I had to do the gamemode thingy(which slightly improves performance and tends to fix some performance issues) on Elden ring since I was getting small but noticeable stutters when moving about, and that's a verified game.

I don't mind putting in a bit of work to get something specific I want set up, but there's a reason people want things to just work when it comes to their pastimes, and I feel Linux is still a bit far from that.

PS: I have no idea if Bazzite and other gaming distros have this issues, I use a general use one.

  • The average user doesn't even know the registry exists.

  • Overall, I'm happy with Linux for everything. But it is a hard sell for your average person when you have to change the init configurations for every single game you download (even if it's just for enabling gamemode).

Also I'm am very curious as to how you even got a bluescreen. I don't even remember when I last saw one.

  • Maybe I'm wrong but the amount of code available online you can use to feed a model is probably a few orders of magnitude larger than circuit designs.

  • Biden also surpressed student protests. This isn't the gotcha you think it is

  • The ukrainian people chose, multiple times I must say, neutrality (which is the best case scenario for everyone except the US empire). The thing is their leadership has been coopted by literal nazis, so they ban russian language, genocide etnic russians and try to join NATO.

But I wouldn't expect an end to this conflict where Ukraine simply ceases to exist. Even a maximalist view where Russia imposes whatever on Ukraine I'd expect them to take everything east of the Dniper + mykolaev + Odessa at most.

That said ukrainians' right to self determination doesn't trump other people's that live there. And if they want to live peacefully, then maybe stop being a battering ram on Russia would go a long way.

  • Because its usefulness is not on the money-making side of business, so it wouldn't make sense to buy.

  • I love Sync but I can't really blame the dev. They obviously wanted an income from this but there just aren't enough people on lemmy that would use the app, so it's maintenance mode at best.

  • I mean, Russia is winning. What are people here expecting?

  • I always wondered what a FOSS MMO would look like. Maybe something like how persistent adventures worked in Neverwinter Nights?

  • In a way, not emigrating to the imperial core when I had the chance ended up being a blessing in disguise (so far)
