  • The funny thing. People keep watching political theater. And cannot seem to kick the addiction to manufactured rage designed into each narrative.

Rage addicts reactions become a pattern.

I made fun of a friend getting burnt out from this. Had to point it out, kindly, multiple times. Eventually he got it.

  • The randomness of python packaging attempts. Recommend reading the source code of Chimera Linux. How to build a distro and write everything as a script.

And any recent dramas bad reviews on imdb. Forget about watching the videos, the reviews are priceless

  • Great entertainers.

    Are we not entertained?

  • An experienced developer could easily step in. The hold back is getting compensated for the effort rather than being forced to turn tricks on the local street corner (aka work a job).

This is why devs are walking away.

Companies offering jobs to maintainers rather than directing funding at them is nonsense. Gov'ts and companies will wake up as cracks start snowballing in their tech stack.

  • Throwing out FUD.

The stars reflect the marketing effort put in. Has no correlation to the software quality or whether it's critical or not.

  • Initially, the stats will reflect amount of marketing effort put into the project.

The marketing will attract both users and a flow of issues and PRs.

I've done zero marketing for my packages. And it shows ;-)

  • That's unfair. Throwing out FUD doesn't make it true.

Why be in a rush to judge? Might wanna watch some projects which have used this tactic.

Might be legitimate projects are willing to do whatever to attract eye balls.

Just for shiats and giggles, keep an open mind.

  • u are right

    just confirmed my point

either i'm defective or thoroughly distracted by a never ending stream of disjointed conversation threads that just blend together and lead no where.

Was there ever any hope of forming a long last relationship? Or is that never been in the cards?

Are we just thread participants for the life time of this thread?

  • yeah there is a lotta that floating around.

i feel locked in a cage with the proverbial monkey

shiats getting tossed everywhere. Dodging works for a time.

Eventually wanted more outta life than successive rounds of the classic game, space invaders.

People opening their mouths, whatever comes out, should be backed up with something. Even better if can interact with that something

  • not sure what poetry does

as long as the ladies seem happy might be something to it

  • will try out the suggestion

  • The pre-git model will offer resistance, but lower cost of energy will win out over time.

A reduced cost of energy is a profuctivity improvement which translates into a stronger economy.

Commuting will have to somehow prove its value over decentralized collaboration.

This will become an unstoppable social movement eventually

  • and they are all on mastodon

a fans motivation is normally to gain access to heroes rather than hide far far away from them on lemmy

  • tags?

do the research to track down exactly who to interacting with.

then what would be the use of tags? Force of habit. Something to do to pass the time?

  • Stop with the feeds entirely from randos.

the streaming noise in arabic then French and Chinese is trying to drive the point home that u are doing something obviously wrong

try grabbing that French poster by the Freedom fries and get to know him.

Ask him about his adventures in Africa. Bet his colonial exploits come with some insights

  • rock stars, not individuals

  • the content is github

a distribution / marketing site is pypi

    you are interacting with technologists.

The content already exists. And are interacting around that content. Rather than generating more and more content forever in a loop leading to nothing but more noise.

And you have direct access to these people! If a reasonable conversation is lacking it's cuz you are not bringing the party to the bar.

You are the star that makes the conversation happen.

So dial up a person 100x smarter than you. And find something to ask them.

Like a ChatGPT but will actual intelligence and passion at the other end.

  • it doesn't matter what Europe does or does not do.

What matters is access to energy. Without which the civilization dies.

Where the journalists are therefore is irrelevant. Unless they're packing their bags.

Or they have hidden a mobile fusion reactor in their basement and just bidding the time.

  • mastodon is awesome if you actually can bring yourself to want to interact with a real person.

If you can't get anything out of mastodon you cannot get anything out of interacting with another human being.

Find someone to care about. Force yourself to care about them.
