  • Really? You're assuming of course that I'm am American citizen, which I'm not, or didn't attend numerous protests to support Palestinians in the country I do live in, which I did.

The whole world is not the USA.

  • You had a choice OP

    1. Vote to maintain a bad status quo
    2. Vote to make things a billion times worse via fascism
    3. Start a revolution

Instead you chose secret option d. Make 'both sides equally bad' memes to justify the acceptance of fascism.

Always vote against the fascist. Or revolt.

  • In terms of code? No, I haven't had a look at yours. But for Destiny its totally clear what it does - p2p encrypted device to device file transfer. I had a look at your website and - I should say I'm not trying to be rude - i'm not 100% sure what yours does...its called glitr cloud but also that its p2p? Further down the page there's a series of screenshots that show....what?

I've also read the comments on here and it seems its not open source? And it won't be available on f-droid? But you do have a git repo link, although there's nothing called glitr on it.

Overall, I'm totally confused about what this is, who you are (as an org) and why it matters. With Destiny, I can download the app on all my devices and transfer instantly. I can ask friends to and give them a code to access what I share. Or I could use send.vis.ee if I didnt want to leave Destiny running for my friend.

Its great to have options but I don't really know what yours does or why I should think its better.

  • IVPN don't allow port forwarding either.

I realise port forwarding is something lots of people want but the reasons are nothing to do with privacy. Mullvad remains, in my opinion, the best solution for those whose priority is privacy.

  • I've yet to find something more straightforward to use than Destiny.

  • Thatcher did the same over here. Called it 'Care in the Community' which translates as 'Vastly increasing the at risk and vulnerable unhoused population'.

  • Jesus christ.

  • I think, as well as the issues you mention, another issue might possibly be duplication. Historically, search engines penalise duplicated content, even across different domains and federation kind of bakes that in.

  • Some excellent suggestions in here already but I'll add Lois McMaster Bujold's brilliant World of the Five Gods series. She says they can be read in any order you like but I read the Curse of Chalion then Paladin of Souls, then The Hallowed Hunt then all the other 'Penric' related novellas - so publication order in other words. The series won a Hugo award a few years ago.

Edit: if anyone is looking to fill the Fitz shaped hole in their lives, Curse of Chalion is particularly good.

  • Irrelevancy, thy name is Truss.

  • Thanks?

  • " I asked a simple question..."

Without knowing what community it was and what the exact question was, I'm not sure what you're expecting me to say about that.

  • There's a reason they're called 'communities' on Lemmy. What you see as a bubble, other see as a place of refuge where they're not going to be attacked by people 'just asking questions'.

  • Which is why I said I was aware the use case is different. I'm also not sure Element is trying to be a paragon of security. As I understand it, their focus is on privacy.

  • Equally strong probably but I'd assume a bear is faster and more aggressive. Also has a set of steak knives on each paw.

  • Could be argued that Lemmy does too. I realise the use case is different but the risk feels similar. You can sign up with a anonymous username, your phone number isn't exposed and some Matrix instances don't even require an email (and if they do you can use an anonymising service). Its not great, I agree, but its also not that bad either.

My issue with Element X (and the reason I'm still using Element) is that X doesn't (yet) support Spaces. Again, not a huge issue, but annoying enough to stop me switching.

  • But its impossible to not notice! Or find aggravating!

  • Let me guess - you think Elon was saying 'from my heart to yours', right?

  • It's where they store the chemtrails before putting them in planes.

  • Redundant question when the government have just announced they're taking money from disabled people but are considering not taxing huge tech orgs.
