  • Didn't know about Syria's flag change

  • This is so engrossing. I've made it to chapter 77 while "working". What a story.

  • Awesome, thanks. I appreciate my budget doesn't give much to work with. I did already think about this one for a while - there are loads of 1000R out there, but I thought it might be a bit much, so would prefer a shallower curve. The AW has better ports and is probably going to have better HDR as well. It's still in the shortlist.

  • I did wonder how likely it is that the S2 would even be able to max out its display output. If MKW is 1440p @ 60, that might be the ceiling in practice (at that resolution, at least).

  • Okay, sure. Don't spend too much time on it, though, because I'm sure I'll end up happy with whatever I get.

I was planning to get this Samsung G50D for £242. My reasonable shopping list includes 32-inch screen, wide viewing angles (so probably IPS), a height-adjustable stand since I'll use it for some office work as well and might move it about, [edit: and 1440p]. Preferably I'd like to keep it below £300.

  • Awesome, thank you. All good to know. I know HDR400 is the lowest, but much of the other things I'm looking at in the same price range don't have any certification, they just support HDR10 in some way. If I could find HDR500/600 for a small price premium, I could go for it.

  • Ah, okay! Thanks. I'd still find any comments on general HDR output interesting, though.

  • The new “BritCard” would be used to check on an individual’s right to live and work in Britain, with senior No 10 figures examining the proposal, The Times has reported.

The card, stored on a smartphone, would reportedly be linked to government records and could check entitlements to benefits and monitor welfare fraud.

I'm not against what it's trying to achieve, but will it achieve that and isn't there a less expensive or better way to do it?

  • I've seen ads like this for Temu (Teemu?) where they have a bunch of seemingly random products and I actually want to click it to find out what they are.

  • I was playing it with my kid as well and we really enjoyed it, even though it was me just directing them what to do for a lot of it.

I think I encountered one glitch in single player: there were three lens cubes in the room that I needed to use, and at one point I just lost one. It's possible it got fired into a dark corner of the room and I didn't see it, but I think it glitched away. Not too annoying since I just reloaded the level to do it again.

  • Not sure what your point is here? We all know what the Southport attack was.

  • Why do you think all knife deaths are due to mass murderers on a mission?

  • If you ban all potential weapons, deaths due to weapons would fall, yes.

  • If someone really wants to kill someone else, of course they'll find a way. The idea is to raise the barrier to make it more difficult, maybe prevent those deaths where the killer lose their head for a moment.

  • It's not expecting to stop all murders. It's about reducing deaths.

  • No chance to save lives unless sharp-tipped knives are banned and they’re all destroyed.

She's asking for half of this. Probably she only stops short of asking to to destroy existing knives because she knows it's impractical. But if you stop creating new pointed knives, they'll slowly get phased out. You wouldn't save lives day 1, but decades down the line when nobody owns a pointed knife any more, you will.

  • It's a difficult one - inconvenience some chefs or have a chance to save lives

  • I finished Portal 2 co-op mode a fair while ago (and the bonus levels that I honestly could have missed entirely, because it's not really indicated that they exist) and started the single-player mode. It's fine, and I'm interested to find out the details (although it's hinted at enough that I think I can guess), but I actually feel the single-player mode is a bit too long. You're moving through the levels, but I none of them have been that challenging and in the later game (assuming I'm near the end), a lot are just too straightforward. Possibly I was spoiled by the co-op mode and I would have liked the single-player mode more if I'd done it first.

  • The thing about immortality is really weird, but I can totally see the benefit in getting AI to do the "grunt work". It's a common story that an artist burns out from having to produce a new episode on a weekly deadline, even if they hire assistants to help. An issue is whether the AI can match the artist's style and the whole copying of other artist's work used in training thing.
