  • Lol I do worry about some aspects of it — the energy usage, risks of feeding delusions and other mental illnesses, stealing content, and who knows what might happen to data we give it, etc. Makes me think of like how the inventor of dynamite had good intentions wanting to speed up the process of clearing paths in mines or whatever, only to have it picked up as technology for weapons

  • I might gonna get downvoted to oblivion again for saying this, but I used chatgpt to search for them. I saw your other comment about 7cups, and I hear you it's not ideal. I used it to find a listener just to hang out with while going through the list emailing and calling agencies, though.

  • There are sliding scale agencies, some taking on clients for free. Take care.

  • "Nobody would listen" yet people (not just men) don't go to therapy where someone's not only PAID to listen, but to help you challenge those cognitive distortions and apply the skills gained to heal with people that do want to listen without the payment. There's 8 billion people in the world. It's simply not true "nobody would listen or care."

    Edit: 7cups.com is free.

  • Can you please re read my comment, particularly the second half of the sentence

  • Did you stop reading halfway through my one sentence...?

  • I mean, I don't take longer than a couple minutes to take a shit, but it does make it worse for those with health issues or trying to get a break with no other options

  • I see at least one state on here that should be yellow. Where did they source their info from? (Edit: sorry I'm on mobile so digging into it would take a while. I can look from my computer later)

  • I died

(I completely forgot and am certainly more ashamed I made the promise than I think I would be if I'd remembered and followed through)

  • I have a gift card to Aldi I've been sitting on since Christmas. Your comment has inspired me to go spend all $20 on items from that aisle. I will update with what that afforded me and how ashamed I am tomorrow

  • The safety precautions I've put in place to save my hair ties are what I'd expect if I had a toddler

  • I spent $1500 of my student loans on it the first half of the year before realizing I qualify for sliding scale and now have medicaid covering everything... I've been kicking myself for the last month, but hey, I also realized there's tons of food banks in my area so at least I'm saving money in a few ways now 😅

  • Is there evidence of increased mental illness, or are we just becoming more socially aware and have greater access to diagnoses or just the language to explain it in general?

  • I wonder how much the adoption of newer platforms has a lot to do with having money to advertise. I feel like I lucked out a bit finding lemmy when reddit had the 3rd party apps shut down, just stumbling on a comment before it was deleted. Whereas if the commenter had paid for it to be an advertisement it may have stayed up

  • Context is everything. Yeah, your wife of 10 years deserves the face to face, more than once. A dude I dated for a few months that showed no emotional intelligence specifically told me he'd prefer a text. I obliged when I realized it wasn't going anywhere and I didn't want to keep up a casual relationship. He then asked to talk in person, though, and I again obliged.

  • Speak for yourself, please. I am willing to change my beliefs with new information. Unless you have evidence of an asteroid heading toward our planet or whatever, I'll stick with what I do know.

Again, faith means belief without evidence. You have every indication the sun will be fine, the earth will be fine, etc.

  • I'M WORKING WITH SOME VERY UNSTABLE HERRRRBSSS

  • Knowledge is built on justified, true beliefs. I know and believe the sun will rise tomorrow. You can believe shit on faith, or lack of evidence, but I'd disagree if someone claims to "know" gods or ghosts exist and ask for their evidence.

  • Oxytocin is a big one, but I'm struggling to remember the others. I remember that one cuz of a psych class where the professor brought it up as an event that mothers would associate as having some of the highest levels of it. Its considered the bonding hormone, so makes sense we'd bond with our babies so drastically to keep us motivated to care for them after they ripped our lower body apart lol
