  • We didn't fully trust them.

But it was convenient to deal with them, based on proximity.

Now that they've gone full retard that proximity advantage isn't worth what it once was.

  • I wonder how many of those already had an opinion of the Americans that was so low it couldn't sink any further?

  • I was expecting that to morph into talking about twinks.

  • I was riffing on an old joke.

  • I mean that's why they always try to take the "Freedom" this "Truth" that kind of titles.

Also trying to co-opt "common sense".

No, Pierre, that doesn't mean "it seems obvious if you don't think about it very deeply".

  • Well, yeah. That's how international politics is done.

  • He could be replaced by a very small bash script.

  • Unless he's playing 4D chess I can't comprehend,

He's playing tiddleywinks but he still can't comprehend the rules.

  • For most Canadians I'd say they have all the info they need.

True. The only people they wouldn't necessarily have all the info for are self-employed or people doing casual labour, or maybe people working remote for foreign companies.

  • It would be cool if this opens up the market for more local cafés to start up and thrive now that there is less of the aggressive competition from well funded foreign chains.

  • Any of these bans I have read are for new vehicles only.

It would be incredibly wasteful to ban the resale of existing vehicles. (Not to mention politically impossible)

  • "Unfortunately we couldn't come to an agreement on the best system to replace first past the post

As is always the case when this topic is raised.

There are passionate proponents for each of the various types of proportional systems, all having their valid arguments, but it always seems to end up in a stalemate.

  • There is no point in passing a law, that cannot be enforced.

That never stopped Harper's government from doing it anyway.

And in the process wasting the court's time, and unfairly punishing people until those bad laws were eventually and inevitably nullified by the court.

  • Allow me to introduce introduce you to the paradox of tolerance

Tl;dr: a tolerant society cannot tolerate intolerance.

  • To be fair, I stole the idea from Top Gear's final show.

  • This is one of the nice things about Trump running this whole thing, is that it'll all be done in a really stupid fashion

Nice might not be the word I would have chosen, but I agree that it could be a whole lot worse if Trump and company were appointing competent people to do their bidding.

  • The Russians claimed they have not been over NATO territory.

Only because they believe it should be their territory.

  • I don't think there really is a third option. If he decide to not address this

He could intentionally avoid mentioning it while an elephant slowly wanders around behind him.

  • A little more than half (51 per cent) of millennials make a purchase from a restaurant at least once a week, followed by 47 per cent of Gen Z

I remember when I was growing up our family had a restaurant meal only on special occasions. Maybe only 4-5 times a year max.

Except when I was traveling for work, that's remained my typical pattern for most of my life

Who are these rich people who are eating out weekly?
