Formerly Keegen on Kbin.social(RIP), this is my Lemmy account.

  • Save and exit to desktop straight away with no going back to the main menu before. I'm looking at you Dark Souls series! It's like the developers have never used a computer for anything not related to writing code before.

  • Very excited for more Re:Zero! Still can't believe we're getting it so soon (April 2026), I was expecting a similar wait to what we got between season 2 and 3.

  • TBH if the person has a laptop I don't blame them. Those can be an absolute hell to wrangle into giving you access to the boot menu. Some won't even let you select the boot device and require that you edit the boot order from BIOS instead! You also might have to disable secure boot if your distro of choice doesn't support it - and I bet even with Windows 11 requiring it 95% of people have no idea that it even exists as an option.

  • Been excitedly waiting for this since they announced they are working on it, the game was engaging enough I trudged through it years ago even with my vehement hatred of RTwP. I enjoyed my time with PoE 2 a lot more thanks to it's turn based mode despite it's somewhat flawed implementation, hearing that they learned from that and are addressing the issues with it makes me even more excited to replay it (I kinda hope they go back and retouch PoE 2's turn based mode as well)!

  • We got confirmation that the house protector monster is the family dog! Kinda wholesome it stuck around to keep the house safe. Speaking of wholesome, the black suited gentleman are surprisingly nice, helping Miko with tests, pointing out lost objects and even helping return lost pets! It was really cute how Miko paid them back for their service with snacks, although it sure seems like her dad should notice something is amiss with her leaving obvious offerings to a bunch of ghosts. Is this the moment he learns she can see things or did he know all this time and simply went along with it because it's what Miko was doing?

  • Would jury-rigging Wraithguard be booting a live USB and trying to fix the system yourself?

  • Just because Brave comes out as "the best" on privacy tests doesn't mean it's worth it to support a commercial browser that pushes AI, cryptocurrencies, that blocks ads while replacing them with their own locked behind their system that they get a cut from, that added their referral links to websites you visited and only removed them after severe backlash, whose CEO is a notorious homophobe that donated 1000$ to a campaign aiming to ban gay marriage rights in California. Zorin might claim they chose it based on merit and remove a lot of these features from it but they still push people to use it and increase its market share.

  • The fact that they default to Brave Browser already makes me wary. I have plenty of issues with Mozilla myself, especially their recent trend of integrating AI into the browser but I would rather use a fork or even vanilla Chromium rather than Brave. I know it's just the default and you can switch easily but the fact they landed on THAT out of all available options doesn't give me confidence, I would go with Mint instead.

  • As others have mentioned, this definitely sound like the partition is being mounted by your desktop environment instead of your system. You can either add it manually by editing /etc/fstab or use the Disks program (think it's Gparted?) that I'm pretty sure Mint ships with, select your drive then your partition and click on the cogs to edit mount options (you might have to unmount it first). Deselect Automatic Mount if it's enabled, make sure mount at startup is enabled and check if the mount point points to a correct path, clicking OK should add the entry into your fstab, you can check if it's there with "cat /etc/fstab" in your terminal.

  • Thanks for posting your art on the Fediverse, I always look forward to seeing your comics here. Congratulations on the marriage!

  • Steam specifically designed the system to make it easier for developers to handle pricing for multiple regions, and in their SteamWorks documentation on pricing for developers in the Regional Pricing Recommendations section they say:

"All of these factors have driven us towards the commitment to refresh these price suggestions on a much more regular cadence, so that we're keeping pace with economic changes over time."

yet their suggested pricing has not changed since the program was introduced in 2022. If they don't want to commit to keeping the pricing up to date, as they themselves promise, then retire the program and make publishers set the price themselves on every game.

  • I don't really care what they do, I just want them to do ANYTHING. Either update the regional pricing more regularly or just get rid of the damned thing and let me pay in USD/EUR. There are some rare publishers that will actually go out of their way to manually set the regional pricing to make it reasonable but most of them just follow the default suggested Steam one leading to massively overpriced games. I'm Polish and at this point I only buy games on sales, the final price still often comes close to what the game would cost me in USD/EUR without any sale.

Edit: Valve themselves specifically says in their SteamWorks documentation on pricing for developers

All of these factors have driven us towards the commitment to refresh these price suggestions on a much more regular cadence, so that we're keeping pace with economic changes over time.

and yet the prices remain the exact same since they introduced the Regional Pricing Recommendations in 2022.

  • Skyrim's followers have a maximum carry weight and won't let you trade them any items after they exceed it. That is, if you TRADE them the items! You can just Hold E/talk to them and go into interaction mode and order them to pick up things from the ground. They will happily do so without complains regardless of their carry weight status, extremely helpful for collecting a bunch of dwemer junk to smelt down into ingots for smithing - those things are heavy!

  • I just checked and Dolphin very much has that feature, the wording in English might not be exactly the same as I have the UI in my native language but I found it in the hamburger menu under Sort by>Other>File extension.

  • I like the Xbox controller on PC because it's the safe, always supported option. I use a generic PDP Xbox One controller because they are one of the few brands available in my country that have a very "vanilla" shape and look while having a wired connection. I'm on my second one now after my old one had some phantom button presses on one of the triggers after 5 years of use, for what they cost that's a damn good lifespan.

  • This gives off strong Crystal Cave vibes. Is the gang going to fight Seath?

  • Recent versions of KDE also automatically enable Do Not Disturb mode whenever you launch a full-screen window so you won't get interrupted by a notification anyway! Honestly surprised GNOME doesn't do that as well.

  • There is no reason they have to test it on multiple distros at all, the minimum and recommended system requirements exist for a reason. Just test it on one or two distros and list those as supported, treat anyone else the same way you would someone trying to play this game on an unsupported version of Windows like 8 or 7. If it works, great! If not - not our problem, figure it out yourself, your configuration is not supported.

  • www.youtube.com##ytd-reel-shelf-renderer hides Shorts from the YT Subscriptions page, very useful if like me you don't care about those.

Outside of that I strongly recommend checking out uBlock's medium mode for anyone who wants a much stronger non-filterlist dependant protection at the cost of minor inconvenience.
