    That's cool. When you say you gave up, I assume this wasn't a whole redo of the house's plumbing, you just had a bucket in the shower or something that you then poured into the toilet's tank?

    Would be neat to design a house to divert shower and sink grey water to toilets in an off-grid permaculture way.

  • Nate used to have such good and interesting guests. I really enjoyed a lot of the oil weirdos he used to have on, their perspective was interesting and also radicalizing - knowing how deeply the entire global economy relies on this shit is such a doompill.

    I've fallen out of love with the guy though. He does so much capitalism apologia and has on wacky hippie types who are all about the "dark triad" and nonsense that has no bearing on our material trajectory. I should have expected as much from a former Goldman employee working in natural resources though. At least he's comfy at his ranch in Montana.

    I will probably watch this with a critical eye like I do all his content nowadays. It's important to learn from your enemies.

  • There's a reason so many Americans live in "trailer parks." The cost of mobile homes ("manufactured homes") is significantly less than what you pay for homes in subdivisions (which are themselves dogshit).

    Please, build more housing. But to Americans that will mean bulldozing swampland, releasing ungodly amounts of methane in the process, and plopping down rickety crap that will get washed away in the next hundred-year flood... that actually happens every few years nowadays thanks to something called climate change, which a significant portion of the country doesn't believe in.

    As you can tell, I'm not at all bitter about living in this failed state.
