  • Can confirm. Use a fridge from 1974. 2 years ago thermostat failed. Replaced with digital one for $15. Now have a nice digital readout of the temps. Thing uses 180W 100W when running, less than bigger newer ones. It's even more ecological to keep it running since it still has the nasty ozone layer killing coolant that would partly evaporate when trashing it.

EDIT: 100W just checked the type plate.

  • You can still do that. They're called body repair panels. They are usually plain metal. You have to cut out the old, weld in the new, grind them flat, prime and paint them. This isn't cost efficient if your car is worth less than the paint you'd need. The parts usually are around $100-$300 bucks (if you don't need OEM parts) but the labor is expensive. And if you do it for cheap it will look like crap.

  • vpn with network manager is amazing. All my client's vpn solutions just work. On windows I needed 5-6 different vpn clients that bluescreen each other on Linux I need zero proprietary software.

  • Get everything: https://www.voidtools.com/ (the alpha version can also index the content of files). It's search is instant. As in < 1 second for any file on any of your harddisks (even ones not connected right now).

For base linux cmdline tools I just install Git for Windows it includes tail, sed, grep, tee, iconv, less, scp and tons more. I need git anyways so win-win.

  • To be fair it's rather odd they call it that. Germans seem rather strange with English in general.

They go to public viewings to watch on their beamers. Even when no one has died. Lothar Matthäus claims "I'm a German record player". They carry stuff around in their body bags and listen to music from "boxen".Merkel even told the english press about her shitstorm. Every day there is a cringe moment.

  • I liked it. It's not particularly hard or deep but the mechanics are nice, battles and encounters don't overstay their welcome. The interwoven story was done quite nicely. I played it on PC. It runs great on Proton and Windows 7.

I haven't played the second one, but reviews consider it an improvement. Now that they removed Denuvo I might get it.

  • If an Ideapad 3 is a potato now what's an EeePC?

  • Unless they use Unreal Engine and don't know what they are doing. It can be pixely and run like ass.

Octopath Traveler was the last UE based game that really ran well that I can remember.

  • On Windows: https://www.fxsound.com/ (now free and open source)On old Linux: PulseEffectsOn new Linux: EasyEffects

Those really make your crappy speakers or headphones go the extra mile.

  • That has a background update service. It'll only immediately kick you out for serious security updates. Unless you f'ed with the configuration.

  • I have a VPS with 1 GB of RAM and Firefox with up to 3 tabs is fine. OK, it's running Linux maybe FF on Windows is worse.

  • w3m with framebuffer image support, my man.

  • This I would actually want to see.I would so laugh when their most of their profits go to EU Antitrust Fines.Or they pull an Apple and only EU device owners get to choose their own browser.

  • I'd guess the gay frogs told him.

  • Like Chrome Firefox has an internal Task manager at: about:processes

You could try opening it in a second window. It might show you what causes the hang. There is also: about:memory to see where the RAM went. It's a bit more technical though.

  • Yeah, and the one on Amazon is broken for years and no one cares.

There is: https://mycroftproject.com/There you can just about anything to Firefox's search providers.

  • It's pretty cool. Can also display inline images in w3m.

  • They also whip each other with shrubbery in the sauna. (or so I've heard)

  • They had real guns back then.
