  • Well, they run the biggest(?) game store on the planet, so they probably have more money to throw at problems than a tiny hardware manufacturer from Germany.

  • They can tick those, then, the last one os just to save on ticking time.

  • I think one of the big things few people mention is hahstags, I do follow a lot of things that interest me via hashtags and found a lot of cool people that way.

  • Haha, o no. Mmmmh, I would go around server lists (heard good things about https://fedi.garden/ ) and then look at the public timeline of a server and also at the server rules. I did this for finding a new Pixelfed instance a few months ago (didn't find anything I liked) and it was interesting to see if people had just pasted the standard rules (kind of a red flag for me, personally), wrote some bs like "be nice to each other" or had taken care of thinking about this.

  • Im reasonable happy with Actual Budget. I like that it has desktop apps that can sync woth a server that was easy to set up, I can import various things via .csv, rules to automatically categorise stuff are nice. I dont care about the envelope budgeting or whatever it's called they're on about but it's easy to ignore / turn off.

  • I almost didn't notice and the all sites I wanted to look had had been archived on archive.org

  • What are you struggling with? Look for a server (that isn't mastodon.social) that fits your interests, sign up, browse the local or global timeline, follow interesing people, have fun!

  • There really is no alternative to that Logitech keyboard is there (I opened that link wondering if it was something else but nope ...)

  • +1 for Bazzite. Have been using it for over a year, if an update borks sleep or something, I just boot tge other partition, wait a week or two. So good!

  • Iirc she basically translated all of Carl Barks into German, but she might have done a lot of other things Im not aware of.

  • Yeah, chances are high that you will indeed not be voting.

  • My interpretation is that it's AI as a robot that has been shot when trying to steal the Mona Lisa ...

  • Keeping German internet shit as is tradition, good job!

  • +1 for Bazzite (or another one from https://universal-blue.org/ ), very hard to destroy, if an update breaks something just choose old install during boot and wait a few weeks before trying again. I am kinda savvy but don't really need (or can 😸) tinker with the system.

Where are you based? Maybe someone from https://endof10.org/ or another local hacker grouo could help you in person. There are regular install parties in my city.

  • I mean it's not like western / European media isn't sanewashing him whenever they can get around quoting him directly, they pretend that he's "a bit weird and maybe not so nice" (so as per usual for a rich, disgusting fascist, but still disheartening to see).

  • Did this work for you? I'm earning my living as an illustrator and designer and for me it's part of the process that what I envision and what ends up on the (digital) paper is never the same. And that is ok, sometimes I feel it was better "in my head" but almost always whatever ends up in reality takes over / erases what I thought I wanted to do. Which is ok as well.

I also think if you never drawn before you could for sure just draw stuff in your head but it might be a good idea to at some point (or even start with) doing classic "learn to draw stuff" like doing online or in person courses, copying others (DO NOT PUBLISH THESE ANYWHERE) etc, to learn about perspective, colour, anatomy etc. But then I've drawn since I was a child and have no idea what the best way to learn drawing would be (I'm also sure this is different for different people).

  • .A friend of mine said they misspelled it as SHIT phone in their own newsletter once. It is kinda an unfortunate name (not as bad as /e/ but you just can't top that).

  • Don't shame them for their guilty pleasure, lizard creature!
