  • Weird that it's unsupported on steam deck. Doesn't look that demanding technically.

  • I really liked CrossCode's art and vibe and everything. The puzzles are good, too. But the puzzles are kind of hard in a way that tires me out.

I guess that's how some people feel about dark souls. "Oh, I'm glad that's over". That's not quite the vibe I'm aiming for.

Maybe I'll play it with a friend who's good at puzzles so I can just do the fighty parts.

  • Assuming what you're saying about the harms of consuming pornography, is it the state's responsibility? Is it a top priority? Do we trust conservatives to implement a solution in good faith?

The answer to all of those I think is no.

There's no analogous ID check for violent media, so far as I know.

There could be a raging wildfire and I would hesitate if a Republican said "let me deal with it". They are fundamentally untrustworthy.

That's on top of the deep irony of the same party that goes on about "small government" and "parents rights" is typically the same one pushing draconian anti-porn laws. It's a joke. "A government small enough to fit in your bedroom". Their motivations are so corrupt I am extremely skeptical of anything they propose.

  • I feel like I would have nullified, had I been on the jury.

  • The us is really stupid for many reasons. 50+ patchwork systems for stuff everyone needs, like ID, is one of them. Using a driver's license for ID is another.

  • Adding websearch to the start bar’s search was solving a problem that didn’t exist.

Maybe the average user is so ignorant and bad at computers they don't understand this. They don't know what a browser is. They don't know what a website is. They don't know what a program is. It's all just stuff.

Personally, I'd rather spend billions on education than AI slop and other patches on "people are kind of dull"

  • I saw her give a talk once. Someone asked her about the environment or climate change, and she said something like "There's like 100 people responsible for most of the problem, and we know where they live."

The crowd loved this answer. The guy moderating the event made nervous noises.

  • For some people, their entire world view revolves around "there must be in-groups to protect and out-groups to bind". That's it. Everything else is a polite fiction on top of that.

These people are, generally, bad people. Like, a child reading about them in a book would point out that they're not good.

Many conservatives adhere to this world view.

  • edit: replying to the right person

I don't know where's a good place to upload anonymous video for free, but here's the route I usually take: https://www.viddler.com/UFko4q . Looks like they added some AI slop to the caption, heh.

It's a little sloppy because I haven't played in a few years, but thanks to steam's cloud saves I had this character ready to go.

You take a little falling damage, but I think there's a ring for that. You don't have to fight anything so long as you run past the ghosts.

  • edit: replying to the right person

Yeah, it's way more sluggish than some of the newer games' respawn.

  • Oh, that's a longer route than I did. The one I did, you don't have to fight anything. Let me see if I have a DS1 save with that area cleared..

  • I don't really use LLMs.

Today at work I was working on someone with something, and we realized our list of tuples was backwards. He was like "oh I'll have chatgpt fix it"

I was like, [(x[1], x[0]) for x in stuff]. Took about zero seconds. Delegating to the chatbot might have felt impressive if it got it right, but it was also such a trivial task I wouldn't think to use it.

  • Did you find the short route? You don't have to fight anything.

Down the stairs, over the bridge, run past the ghosts. Jump off the ledge. Run forward a bit and drop down, and you're outside the boss room. There might be a ladder you have to kick down first. It's been a while.

  • I think the "they think they're a hero but they're just level 1" trope goes in the same bucket as "let's make characters based on ourselves!". Everyone comes up with it but it's rarely as good as imagined.

  • It’s rich kids getting extra time on tests.” Even as poor students with disabilities still struggle to get necessary provisions,

Sounds like an a problem of wealth inequality which should be addressed

And I don't know, unless the test is time sensitive somehow I don't think it matters much to give people more time if they want it. I don't think most kids are taking bomb defusing classes.

I think making accommodations universal would avoid the income inequality problem, too.

  • I had to take a break the first time I got to O&S in ds1. I hadn't yet accepted that being defeated is okay, so I just got really frustrated.

  • I personally found the chip-chip-EXECUTION pretty satisfying. Posture is a neat mechanic, in my opinion. I've done the first phase of the final boss that went like deflect-deflect-deflect-mikiri_counter-slash-jump-DEATHBLOW, and that was really satisfying.

It's not for everyone, of course, and that's fine.

  • This has negative appeal for me. I don't want to buy slop in games. I don't even want to use discord. It's the children who are out of touch.

Now excuse me, I have to go yell at some clouds.

  • It's do-gooder derogation. People get upset when they see someone else being more moral than them. Instead of trying to either grow themselves or accept their own imperfections, they lash out.

And some people just like being part of the in-group, and see vegans as an easy out-group to mock.
