  • Fun fact! I'm studying for my amateur radio technician license and learned that ham came from calling amateur telegraph operators' sloppy work 'ham-fisted'. The amateur radio community decided to lean into it, and thus the ham radio operator was born

  • I was reading through threads looking for a solution to an alternate issue and I read one suggestion for freezing that seemed to work for some: reserve one core for system processes.

  • Will no one think of the hungry alligators?

  • Can it be a pillow fight?

    I use steamos btw

  • I don't know about your specific use-case, but I've successfully used the pictured hub as a Steam Deck dock.

  • I feel your pain with Ubuntu, though last time I used it was about a decade ago. As bad as it is (relative to some other distros), it's still miles ahead of Windows. So, you've got that going for you!

  • Out of twins, one is heading for trade school, the other will have earned half her undergrad by the time they finish highschool, with plans to go pre-med. One will make a great living as an electrician and the other will drown in student loan debt for years. I'm equally proud and supportive of their decisions.

If a parent is disappointed that their child is going for a trade, the only thing this shows is that the apple fell far from an asshole tree.

  • I'd listen to your podcast.

  • I was recently swimming in that thought soup, myself.

In reality, the truth is somewhere in between. Yes, AI is taking real jobs right now, not a speculative future, but so are the economic issues.

There are just so many people suffering. Young and old, there's not a demographic untouched by it. Plenty of blame to go around, for sure.

  • As a business owner, I only ever work half days!

...and I even get to pick which 12 hours!

  • Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

  • This is the thought spiral that kept me up at night in the third grade and ultimately led me away from the teachings of the church I was made to attend.

If anyone is able to continue this hypothetical argument, I'd welcome it!

"The universe can't just exist without having been created by God."

    Why?

    "

    <Insert any answer here>

    "

Well if that's true about the creation of the universe, then who created your God?

IE: "Because the almost impossible chance of sub-atomic symmetry needed for any matter to exist proves that it has to have been created by a higher being."

So you're saying that the universe is too perfect to have just come into existence on its own?

    "Yes."

So if the universe is too great to have been created on its own, then who created your God? And if your God, in his infinite greatness, could have just always existed, why not the universe?

So where does the conversation go from there?

Well, if you're discussing cause, as in everything has to have a cause/then what caused God, you might discuss physics and quantum mechanics, and the revelation that many things happen on a quantum level that have no apparent cause.

At this point, I'd either suggest getting a beer or applying for a philosophy of physics program.

  • Saw this discarded in an Aldi checkout yesterday. It didn't smell anything like the pickle scent I was expecting it to.

  • The battery wouldn't last nearly as long!

  • How do I agree 100% with both of these comments...

  • You love to see it.

  • I'd love to see a future where Starfish has paved the way for less invasive methods of treating various neuro and psychological disorders.

What we'll likely get is some new type of porn thing.

  • They did the math.
