  • Yeah agreed, that was a question clearly posed to rile up the moderates in the party, knowing how he would respond with his hardline anti-war stance.

Whether or not I agree with the statement, I judge his character higher for that response; unapologetically honest, to a fault even, and stood by his beliefs. That is definitely evidence of him being a poor politician; had he less integrity, he may never have been ousted... But equally, with less integrity; he'd probably end up just another Blair clone like Starmer.

It's no different with the Ukraine Russia situation. Corbyn is calling for de-escalation rather than war with Russia; which will inevitably be spun into Corbyn being Pro-Putin in the media rather than anti-WW3. Sure he could keep his mouth shut, and play the game, but why should he? The country is tired of politics. "Nothing ever changes", "they're all the same" are common complaints citizens have... So maybe we should stop voting for people based on their capacity to be dishonest, and instead look at the people who seem to have some integrity.

  • I like the implication that pornhub is the foundation upon which all social media was born.

The Internet was made for it ig.

  • The material he gave them was campaigning against Zionist activities in Gaza way back in the noughties; before all the genocidal stuff happening now, and his defence was anti-zionism ≠ anti-Semitism... which I think in today's light is a very obvious statement, but back in 2019; the average person wasn't aware of what was happening in Gaza, and so the papers ran with the antisemitism angle.

I get what you're saying about playing the game; he could have been dishonest and claimed that the parties issues with Israel's warmongering was actually antisemitism, apologised and given an empty promise about change, to which no-one would bat an eye (a politician lying is a politician breathing etc...), but that's the exact problem with politics... Corbyn was a breath of fresh air in an otherwise toxic environment; unapologetically honest, and cantankerous when it comes to people pussy footing around an issue, and this is exactly why the media dogged him so heavily... they couldn't buy him, and he was gunning for their owners hoarded wealth. If it wasn't the anti-Semitism angle, they would have found something else to try and beat him with.

Even now, he's attempting to force the UK to address the ongoing British involvement in the Gaza genocide; ofcourse the Tory lites rejected any investigation, which in itself is reminiscent of Blair's labour and Iraq.

  • I just did a YouTube search for 'Las Vegas dead' and found a video of a guy highlighting how dead it is, and my god the comments are all to do with stuff like price gouging cited as the reason why... Someone even suggested it's because they're all going LA instead. Nobody is mentioning the lack of foreign tourists... Crazy stuff.

  • This is exactly my point. The antisemitism angle was pushed so ferociously by the media, that it caused people such as yourself to act against your own interests.

Tell me, do you still think ousting Corbyn was the right move? Are we in a better position now under Kiers labour?

  • That's fair, it came across as though you were denying the existence of external forces altogether despite the fact that misinformation campaigns and large amounts of funding to right wing parties are what have fueled the likes of AfD, Reform UK, PVV etc across Europe, as well as the current situation in America.

Yes, every country has its fascists, rapists, murderers etc.. but that doesn't make the possibility of external influence riling these groups to action any less plausible.

Also, I think like i've misunderstood your meaning, you've misunderstood the comment you were responding too; I don't think the person you replied too meant external forces are the sole reason, but rather the driving force.

  • You say that, but I've seen my fair share of news articles about chalky Brits being sent back home; usually for stuff like offensive content found on their phones (the one that comes to mind, was someone being rejected entry because he had the fat Vance meme saved in his images automatically by a WhatsApp chat).

I suppose Americans wouldn't even be aware that foreigners are liable to these checks prior to entry, or that governments like Germany and the UK have put up travel advisories warning against visiting. Crazy to think about given it's such common knowledge the world over... Some NK level of public deception.

  • As a lifelong labour supporter, I get what you mean, but ultimately feel as though I've been duped by this logic one time too many; the labour party are closer to the modern tories than they are the labour that brought us reforms like the NHS and so on.

I'm tired of labour being the only viable option because they're the limp-dicked version of the Tories; Corbyn was the closest we got to seeing a supposedly left wing party actually introduce some socialist policy; and look at the furor that kicked up in the papers... The powers that be were clearly concerned about him, as we had a real chance for change (particularly with him having sights on taxing the rich their fair share) but instead he was smeared and the party showed its true colours by jumping at the opportunity to oust him.

No man or woman is above corruption; and people shouldn't blindly follow anyone; but Corbyn has a lifetime record of activism... So if the options are Tory lite Vs a new party led by a lifetime activist. The question for me isn't; "will this split the labour vote" but rather "why would anyone continue to vote labour, despite it being ultimately fruitless?".

It wasn't the Tories that just said no to a 500k strong petition to repeal the online safety act afterall. Fuck the Tories and fuck the Tory lites.

  • So on a subject about human rights you reduced the scope to Europe because you were being sarcastic?

Enlighten us with a higher form of wit; what were you trying to say?

  • I've definitely met my fair share of people that harbour this sort of belief. The UK is teeming with them currently, all of which have been riled up over the last few decades (atleast) by nationalist parties like the BNP, Britain first and now reform UK insisting that the consistently eroding quality of life, is due to foreigners, rather than the few fat cats hoarding all the cream.

I've seen people at food banks parrot this xenophobic shit after being laid off due to clear capitalistic profiteering... It's insane just how effective hate can be in manipulating people.

I don't know a great deal of German politics, but from what I've heard regarding the Afd party, I'm sure some of this will resonate.

I'm with bot A personally. 'When the rich wage war it's the poor who die' and so forth, so you'll catch me receiving my lashings in the contentious objectors camp come WW3.

  • 'bruv, where's the shitter?'

  • Do you truly believe that Europe is the only place that advocates for freedom of speech and human rights?

  • Make the joke a bit spicier and the taste should disappear.

  • Tbf, the article is written by a gay man. So this is more men trying to fix problems nobody asked them to fix. (Which doesn't seem to be influenced by sexual preference).

  • I don't begrudge it.

As a cis white male my upbringing has helped me understand the plight of trans people. I was told I was something that I wasn't, and any mere mention that I might not be what they'd decided I should be, would result in conversations about what's wrong with me, and visits with elders who would help me pray the sin away, how to spot the devil at work, all that stuff.

Whilst what trans people go through is far more severe; it was a slight yet valuable insight for my otherwise privileged existence as to what oppression looks and feels like.

So if I had to miss out on a few Christmas' and birthdays to avoid ending up the other side a lot of cis whites tend to end up (which seems to be straight up fascism for some fucking reason), then I'm happy to have gone through it.

  • A tough one to answer.I was brought up as a Jehovah's witness, but I remember as far back as being 6 years old and thinking 'this isn't for me, I'll leave when I'm old enough'; which is exactly what I did, so I don't think so?

  • Sir I do believe the term you are looking for is "student af-uh-leets"

    .

  • I'm glad to hear it. I am doing everything in my capacity to help with the repatriation of the empire's illegally pillaged artifacts.

Admittedly that's not a great deal currently though, most of my spare time is spent helping out at the local food bank, as there's a bit of a malnourishment crisis going on in the UK ATM (as I'm sure there is most places tbh. The disparity between rich and poor seems to have grown exponentially since covid and the job market is only compounding the issue).

You guys should have ceded from the crown eons ago; if I had the choice I certainly would. You won't find much love for the monarchy among the working class in Britain.

  • The irony of an Aussie saying this is palpable.

When are you going to stop the rampant and ongoing persecution of the aboriginal population and the intentional erosion of their way of life?

There's nothing I can do about my ancestors' actions; but you have a real opportunity to enact the change you feel our ancestors should have done at home.
