  • I think that public discourse on subjects such as this is pretty important. I trust an academic with a record as sterling as Pinker to present his opinion and factual statements ina very professional and well-spoken manner, and you just never know who might be tuning in to something like that. For a lot of folks on the conservative side, something like this might be one of their only chances to hear from someone who isnt part of the conservative bubble. You never know

  • Smart tv's are awful, doubly so since you cant get "dumb" tv's anymore. I just dont give my tv wifi access and that seems to pretty much mitigate all the bullshit.

  • You'll be (probably) fine crossing the horizon into a sufficiently large black hole as far as spaghettification goes. I dont know where we landed with the whole firewall thing though so that might get you either way

  • That's a lot of nuts!

  • This is my top pick, hell yeah

  • Name idea: Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy BallEdit: NFL < NCTEBL

  • I'm downvoting this because I don't like it! /s

  • even if there are small examples of judeo-christian denominations being tolerant of LGBTQ+ communities, the VAST majority are not and do more than enough harm to cancel out any good being done.

  • For real though, it's basically 45 minutes to say "yes she got fired"

  • I was wondering what they were holding, is it a vape then?

  • If you havent played the sequel I would recommend it. It definitely is not the same as the original but is still really solid and hopefully there will be further games

  • Still my favorite movie of all time

  • I actually recently ventured in to this genre because there was a post talking about Our Share of Night. I got the audiobook because I wanted to finish it in October but my reading plate was too full to do it any other way. The book was very well written and I can see why it's such a hit, but unfortunately I don't think I vibe with the genre well enough to appreciate it appropriately. Still, I'd recommend it to anyone who does like the genre

  • wake up and smell the nitrites

  • Chasm City Alastair Reynolds is kind of like a neo-noir style story in the Revelation Space series, might be fun even if it isn't quite as mystery-centric as you'd like. House of Suns is a standalone by the same author that also has a mystery at the center of the story. It also might not be as mystery focused as you're looking for, I'm not sure. Anyway, I recommend Reynolds as often as I can.

Edit: I can't believe I forgot about The Prefect and the two books that follow. They are also Revelation Space series books and are about a Prefect that investigates crimes in a society made up of mostly-independent communities in various space stations that orbit the planet Yellowstone in a large ring called the Glitter Band. Very good series.

  • People are gonna downvote you but I definitely agree. I see why the trend is concerning but I dont think we need to keep everything around just because that's how it used to be. Some things are allowed to change. When the quartz watch was invented, mechanical watches had to find a new niche and luckily they did. Both are still valid but their roles changed and that's okay.

  • Lol I feel like the veggies will be 99.9% of the taste and the tofu will be .01% (not that that's a bad thing, looks delicious!)
