  • My understanding is the main report this all revolves around only showed a possible link between heavy Tylenol usage during pregnancy and a slight increase in autism diagnosis.

Its basically a nothing burger that's been thrown out to distract from the attack on vaccines and our Healthcare, plus all other sorts of actually serious matters.

  • Is there anywhere to watch the videos that sparked this issue?

I feel like you can never find the source material behind incidents like these, meaning everyone just goes crazy based on vibes.

  • I'm not saying the graph is the best graph ever, I'm saying it's far from the worst I've seen.

Its also clearly not a line of best fit, as it isn't trying to "fit" the data. It's a trend line that's a vertically offset line from lowest to highest. It's a stupid line, but being used to convey how much growth their has been.

The only real issue with this graph is the information/context being ommited. We know there is a lot more to the autism debate beyond just the rate of diagnosis.

  • I appreciate your positivity. This is a huge breakthrough and means that we'll most likely continue to make this treatment better and more accessible!

Thats not even mentioning how this treatment may help us figure out how to combat other diseases.

  • Each bar shows two years; years they surveyed the kids and the year the kids were born.

So 2000|1992, is saying that kids born in 1992 were surveyed in 2000. If you look at tmit with thtmat perspective you can see it's ordered by the year.

  • It's probably a dataset that collected every 2 years, but only labeled every other bar to prevent the graph from being overcrowded.

Not a great decision, but not terrible.

Although, I'm a bit concerned for Lemmys graph comprehension skills.

  • Im confused, it's got both axis labeled and seems pretty easy to read.

Maybe points off for having the labels on the outside rim of the graphic.

Doesn't change the fact that classification of autism also changed over those years, but the graph itself is okay.

  • That would be the easiest path in my opinion. It's great Linux exists and I use it extensively, but it's still not as user friendly as Windows and Mac.

I'd also say that nowadays, Linux will work out of the box, but it's not uncommon for some little things to not work correctly (accessories like docks, cameras, etc. may not work out of the box or at all).

  • This isn't backing down, it's muddying the waters so they were still able to threaten Disney, but now Republicans can say "but they didn't 'mean' to threaten them.

  • It's sad how many people are swayed by "coherent" ramblings.

Biden had some bad ramblings, but mostly spoke about legitimate politics and policies. Trump regularly struggles to put together a combination of words that would fit in normal political discourse.

  • We've got it on record now, it's not a fully formed baby until 12 years. Not sure how that changes the abortion debate.

  • Also, there are also a lot of legal ways he can cause trouble. Who's believing the bs that the FCC can't make things more difficult for Disney (who owns a broadcast channel)?

  • Yeah, but how do you know which ones are good? Generally well gravitate towards brands we're aware of due to them being "known" to us.

And if you say you picked based on reviews, then you're just falling for a different form of advertising as most review sites are heavily gamed.

  • Ancedotally, I think it's that the average developer is not as curious anymore, but that's because the industry has grown a lot (both in number of people and areas of focus).

At the end of the day, that's not a bad thing, just something we'd expect to happen.

  • This is what I keep expecting, but there has been minimal pushback on all the horrible economic policies and somehow the economy is mostly shrugging it off.

  • I mean, have you looked at prices recently, they've already been going up. That's why they didn't want to lower the rates, it's only going to accelerate inflation that's been creeping up due to tarrifs.

  • I'm sure someone out there is running something on paper still, but that's not how most things are run.

Additionally, unless people are legally required to do all exchanges on the public ledger (which seems highly unlikely), then you'd still end up with transactions not monitored on the public ledger.

  • I mean, you can only gouge so much. Sure groceries and essentials can do crazy things, but people stop buying stuff when they have no money/job.

  • Actually, what is weird is WSL apparently ran faster for some things like SSL and some Python Scripting.

But yeah, overhead costs will make WSL slower in almost all cases.
