  • And they started using ghostery to show their own ads in 2018.

Their search engine was discontinued in 2020.

  • Breach of trust and owned by a for profit company.

  • I would recommend enabling strict mode in Firefox. But then Cookie AutoDelete does not work in Firefox if you enable Total Cookie Protection (which is enabled in strict and standard mode).

But you don't even need an extension to prevent cookie persistence.

  • It does, the GDPR does not talk about cookies but tracking consent. Cookies are one of the tools for tracking.

Also disabling cookie persistence does nothing against in session tracking.

  • These forms are actually about consent of tracking and cookies are just one of the ways to do tracking. You're still consenting to tracking.

Also Firefox Total Cookie Protection is a better solution for cookies. You should enable strict mode and Cookie AutoDelete does not work with Firefox strict mode.

  • Does LibreWolf add the missing API to enable Cookie AutoDelete to work? Because I thought it didn't work since Firefox 86 and TCP/strict mode.

Also Firefox already has a way to delete cookies and storage between sessions: privacy.clearOnShutdown_v2.cookiesAndStorage. No need for an extension.

  • Me, in IT for 3 decades:

Well, there is an update icon waiting on me. Not touching it ATM.

    Hum?

  • Noyb is not a media outlet.

  • Y Combinator, a startup accelerator and venture capital firm. Also home of Hacker News.

  • You could use Blocky for this. It can do both, apply some block lists and use DoT/DoH resolvers.

  • You'll be fine using their toothpaste too. I don't think it has any fluor so it won't be as good as one that does but it won't harm you. But be aware who you are giving your money to.

  • I'm not sure that it's a predecessor to integrated farming. Biodynamic agriculture has some similar practices, some of it makes sense but most doesn't. It's about "harvesting cosmic forces", astrology and using preparations with stuff like urinary bladders from red deer, the small intestines of cattle, the skull of a domesticated animal or the mesentery of a cow…

  • Avoid Weleda. It's based on biodynamic agriculture and antroposophic medicine which are unscientific and coming from a cult.

  • Well the causality is obvious here.

  • Yes, because you wrote the config and she didn't need anything fancy. Could she write or update the config by herself, or even upgrade?

Between channels and flakes, the old and new CLI, the lack of documentation of a lot of options…

I mean I love it and wouldn't go back but it was a difficult journey, at leat at the beginning. Even today I sometimes find myself having to go read the code because the documentation is lacking.

  • I love NixOS but it's clearly not a good distro to suggest for a first time on Linux.
