  • It seems like one of the primary reasons for this being so open is visibility, so at least one person could see a drone approaching from any direction and immediate take shots at it.

Will that work? Depends on how quickly they can get a bead on it while strapped into a moving vehicle with what appears to be minimal suspension.

  • If the mayor could somehow force companies to pay employees during the strike under threat of violence, you could do it tomorrow. Will that happen? No. Is this mayor clout chasing for a presidential bid? Yes.

  • I hate that I have to use Windows for work (proprietary design software), but I still do most of my development in Linux, and constantly have a WSL terminal open in any working directory so I can have sane filesystem interactions with bash and coreutils.

  • Don't be afraid to try out Fedora either, the Atomics are cool (it's what Bazzite and SteamOS are based on).

There's a ton of really cool distros that all have their neat niches. Once you get out of the locked down ecosystem of windows/macos you get solutions to tons of problems you might not even have known existed.

  • Is this because all the kids who have Chromebooks are obsessed with FNAF?

  • On top of the truck damage, looks like a lot of trenching going on there.

When you see ~1m wide strips of road with different asphault it usually means the road got dug up to access sewer or power. The smaller ~5-10cm wide ones are micro trenches for comms or small service lines.

It looks like they added some signalling too, and might have dug up that intersection to put in new stuff.

  • Agreed, he's not like some altruistic super selfless individual with some grand vision of an equitable future for all. He's just some weirdo who's so obsessed with his clout that he will literally just give money away so people like him. Not in a way that fixes the underlying issue, or even in a way that promotes some private interest like most liberal/conservative/religious charities. He's just a selfish chaotic neutral.

  • Definitely not defending him, he just has a major cult of personality in his direct area that I see since I live in the state. Clearly he's done enough to make people in that area actually kinda like him.

The big problem is that he's able to garner support doing essentially selfish bullshit.

  • It's better than the original design that just went flat for a bit then scooped you off to the side. Those went out of use in like 1910 though lol

  • He's an odd character. The people from his small community in NC have nothing really bad to say about him from what I've heard, but his whole schtick is basically conspicuous charity. Which again, is better than no charity, but the fact that the Ouch My Balls guy is popular because social welfare and social services are so bad is worrying.

He does legitimately put everything back into his garbage or into charity though. Dude still just live in a normal house in Greenville NC, and does a lot for the area.

Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up just running for mayor or something there at some point...

  • I do have a friend who got an ali-express e-bike and did have a frame failure at speed.

They did have prior warning and had attempted to fix the cracks with tape. So basically just be aware of damage to the frame and get it properly fixed.

  • Every night a bunch of people stand outside doing nothing really, then ICE teargasses them from their building and comes out to beat and pepper spray them on the public sidewalk.

The local police have done nothing in response to this blatant aggression against citizens on public property of course.

  • Interesting how they willingly and excitedly wield the police against their population whenever they get the chance, but when there's a legitimate threat to their power that's armed and violent, they just have to cops hide in their offices and plug their ears.

If you want a brief (N)ACAB moment, sick your dog's on them

  • It's a bourgeois republic at best. That's something I had to learn in highschool too, which makes it annoying when people call the US a democracy when even my public high school education taught me it's not.

"Democratic elements" do not a democracy make, Republics are always ruled by a specific class, be that the gentry, bourgeoise, or workers. And they rule it in a dictatorial fashion.

  • I want to remove this, but honestly, if body shaming gets goons taken off the line because it hurts their feelings I'm not fully against it.

I'll remove this if the consensus is that this is bad though

  • We are in the mountains, so I can give them a bit of slack. But like 3 years slack, not 27 years slack

  • We have a 10 mile stretch of highway in my town that was approved to be expanded in 1998. They got a $2B funding allocation. It's now 2025 and they're only 60% complete and $5B over budget.

  • I straight up thought that first one was a screenshot from the new Disco game or something
