  • Any articles can be a click bait. The reality is what matters.

I didnt turn on AI in Firefox myself. It just appeared there after an update and was turned on. It is not opt in but an opt out.

  • Hero Bystander's family members landed to Sydney from Syria 6 months ago but no specific country of origin mentioned. So, say he is Syrian. His motive was to prevent more deaths. A humanitarian act as family described it. He also said that ‘God gave me strength. I believe I’m going to stop this person killing people’.

We can't generalize anything. On one side we see religious extremists shooting at people. On the other side (allegedly) same religion people acting out of the goodness of their heart. But no one can dismiss this being a religious attack.

  • For a typical browsing/youtube/office laptop user this is going to be enough. For the rest of us - fuck us I guess.

  • It had to be the "install SteamOS on anything" guy

  • Book will always be there in its original format, no ads, no change, no tracking, no brainrot, no trends, no algorithmic content creation.

Until someone figures out how to generate books written by AI that will ultilize algorithms, curate them to include ads and trends, and that will have unavoidable AI brainrot. For now books are safe.

Think about it. Today we say that AI will never write a good book. But 3 years ago we were saying that AI will never generate a realistic footage after that "Will Smith eating pasta" video. Today AI-video is getting harder to distinguish. Same with music. Not a lot of time has passed.

  • It's media being manipulated by megacorps to push whatever they want to cash in on. Also ads. Also also, you're getting old!

Great example would be music industry. If you listen to radio, you would notice that most of the modern music is just bunch of the same artists that are topping the charts. But there are also way more great artists that create music today that are unheard if your primary source of music is radio.

Enter Spotify (or at least how it used to be before 2022). Spotify would give you choice what to listen to. Would suggest artists that do similar music to what you like. It made discovering new artists very easy. For years 3 major labels were dictating what majority of people would listen to. But now people can finally chose what they like. And that is what makes Spotify so hard to drop, considering recent issues.

Same with movies. Not that there are no good movies or series out there. It is just what these mega conglomerates dictate on what is pushed to the masses. An insanely good indie movie has nothing near the budget to advertise itself as some meh-grade Disney flick can have.

I suggest to go off mainstream. Mainstream media is not where "it's at" anymore. Get into indie movies. Might be good to start checking some particular directors and their catalog.

Same goes to YT. I fucking love me some small content creators.

Games? - Single player, online/split screen co-op. Each year there are bunch of really good games are released. Indie genre now is the new hot way to play and enjoy games.

Do not go on mainstream meme subs. These suck. Find some small subs that offer meme experience. Eventually any sub that grows big entshittifies beyond repair.

News. This shit cant be avoided entirely. Maximum you can do is to minimize exposure to news. Do not scroll as much on your phone and use TV just for movies and series.

  • Not gonna deny that these people exist. But also want to say that I know none of them. Usually they would check trailer and/or go to something that they think will be a good watch. Never heard a single person say "Trailer is shit and gives out whole plot. Movie will suck!" and still give it a try at the cinema.

  • Wonder how many meth heads are remembered as a history-altering, millennia-defining individuals.

  • Yarr, maties! Me gonna pirate all them movies!

Arr stack is fully configured and is ready to go. In 2 weeks I will deploy RPi3b+ in a country where piracy is not punished yet. It will act as a proxy though Tailscale VPN. Got 12tb drive for my NAS and will order more later on. External UHD drive purchased and tested. I'm all set! LET THE HOARDING BEIGN!

  • 1001 night tea. A game changer

  • Weird, right? On the one hand - we dont eat banana peels. So, it must be fine, right? But on the other hand, I'd also hesitate to eat a snickers bar washed up on the shore.

  • Yep. Lots of us do, me included. The only thing is that I peel them first and then wash them thoroughly before eating. I do not wash bananas. But I also do not buy bananas washed up on the shore.

  • I mean, I peel them and wash them right after. Then I cook them in boiling water or fry on a pan. Not eat raw.

  • First. As mentioned by MonkderVierte, not fine but a warning.

Second. I'd really think thrice to pick up washed on the shore bananas, or just about anything edible. Basic hygiene to me. Many would disagree with me and say that one can rinse it off. But I don't know, man. Guess I am a germophobe.

Guess UK government is just trying to protect people from possible health risks. Cause, let's fucking face it. Tons of people have issues with hygiene. You can't expect everyone to at the very fucking least rinse these bananas, let alone rinse them well. Also, can you imagine any world government to proudly tell people "There's bunch of bananas washed up on the shore. Go pick'em up! Free potassium snack!" ?

Sad to see this many of fruit being wasted.

  • To artificially populate their instance? I dunno.

Bot prosting AI generated images to niche reddit subs also makes no sense to me. But that is a reality we are dealing with here too.

  • I run my own NC instance and I agree that it is slow. But at work my our company utilizes Dropbox. I am not sure if it is due to amount of files or something, but Dropbox web interface is as sluggish or even worse than my single account NC instance.

One major issue I found with Dropbox is that searching returns "something went wrong" if Dropbox is accessed through Firefox. Edge, and I presume any other chromium browsers works fine.

  • I mean. Maybe after that their movies will be as good as pre-Endgame? One can hope for?
