  • Completely agree with you, I never buy huge amounts when I shop (single guy), big orders are better with human cashier.

There are also zero places around me where there is only self checkout. Having zero cashiers is terrible. There’s always going to be large orders, elderly or disabled people that might not easily use self checkout.

  • From what I’ve seen it’s a lot of incompetence ( Doing it wrong causing constant approvals) or pure laziness (I’m not gunna do your job for you!)

Very rarely nowadays it’ll be from just shit machines. I’ve seen the box ones you are talking about, no scanning, just throw it all in. It’s a great solution.

  • Last time I was in Arizona I saw signs for McDonald’s hiring starting at $20/hour. You think an experienced software engineer should be making essentially the same wage as a McDonald’s worker?

  • Good software engineers should make a lot more than 48k

  • Worked in voyager for me. There’s an X in the top right to close out the pop up. If you can’t see it maybe just poke around in that area, it might go away

  • How is this so hard!? A monkey could do it!

  • That’s not really how encryption works. If their chat bot can read/parse the message, then it has the keys, which means meta would have the keys. This doesn’t mean they absolutely are reading your messages, but it does seem to mean it would be possible.

  • Read all of the comments here, there are many stating why this would drive costs way up.

  • Not sure why you think this, it’s generally trivial to add non-volatile storage to microcontrollers, and much more complicated to add external RAM.

  • I bought a full size a few years ago but returned it cause I didn’t think it was worth the price. I got a mini as a gift last year and it works great. Even has built in temperature and humidity sensors

  • I’m not really a smart speaker kind of guy but HomePods are nice, sound quality is pretty good

  • Any sources for this? I’d love to read up on it

  • Holy shit this makes so much sense. I never figured cloudfare was worth using for some simple self hosted services, but whenever I would read about other peoples setups, they would make it seem like it was absolutely necessary, impossible to replicate on your own.

  • Guess I’m just stuck on the bus forever at that point

  • There’s no point trying to be rational, whoever made this meme clearly has no idea about actual golf. Most golfers aren’t rich, most golf courses are pretty cheap. It’s just a way for people to drink and have fun with buddies.

  • You can give permission for the whole library, or any amount of photos you want. How can this be an iOS issue? It’s pretty obvious Google just wants access to your entire library when it isn’t necessary.

  • This is way too clever for so few upvotes

  • I saw a post that the owners of the camp removed it from flood zone maps, so they didn’t have to pay extra flood insurance. Due to this they didn’t receive adequate warning.

If this is true then how does that not make the camp owners at least somewhat at fault?

This doesn’t absolve trump either, more than one party can be at fault.

  • It happens constantly on here
