Looking at the reactions when Poland bought US planes taught me a lot about the lack of maturity / insights from Eastern European countries, still blinded by the shining lights from NATO and US while ignoring their EU neighbours.
From my country, it's just surreal to watch the lack of reactions from Americans. It looks like they mostly support the actions of the co-nazi dictators, a really bad picture to say the least.
I like both Arch and Manjaro, I like the ability to pick the right tool for the job. I can tweak and better understand my system with Arch, I can be trouble-free and productive with Manjaro.
It's been a bumpy road. I have strong memories of Gnome devs explaining to users how wrong they were to dislike Nautilus's awful spatial mode.
And when that guy refused to implement a switch off option because users were wrong to ask for it.
Now really, it's quite functional once you've tweaked with gnome-tools and added vital extensions. You also have to remember useless stuff such as "Video" means "Totem". I'll just never understand why they don't really care about sane defaults.
It's already the case in France and makes sense to me. In my bike lane, everybody rides at 20 to 27 km/h, there isn't huge disparity of speed. It makes the bike lane safer IMO.
Sidewalks are made for pedestrians, there isn't much to argue there.
I may be mistaken but I don't think I've ever seen a French guy painted in black. However I don't think it's in anyway related to historical reasons, it's mostly because it looks dumb and out of place.
Transferring your argument to the Sevilla parade where black faces were the norm last week, I believe they played a relatively minor role in the slave trade. And I have not seen a single black guy in the street the duration I was there, apart from one frenchman.
