  • Thanks for the explanation. Unfortunately this is a major feature for me. I just don't carry cards anymore

  • Oh I didn't know NFC payments were not working. No workaround?

  • I hate to tell you that because I appreciate your post, but it doesn't fit in /c/technology

  • Because it barely exists

  • I found more value in knowing which web browser is used because I've used my computer more than 5 minutes and know the difference between Firefox and Epiphany. Same with Totem over VLC, etc.

  • I never understood the GNOME logic rename Totem, Nautilus, Epiphany, etc... Granted, I don't understand much about GNOME.

  • An alternative is to rely on Yunohost where installing/upgrading Nextcloud is a matter of 2 clicks: https://yunohost.org/

  • All ancient phones unfortunately

  • I have automatic upgrades on my non-rooted phone. I use droidify but i'm pretty sure the official F-droid client works the same way.

  • FYI etron means shit in French, just saying

  • I've tried writing a resume last month and prepare a presentation (Writer and Impress). And I was very frustrated by crashes and lack of features. The interface is quite good, more intuitive than the MS equivalents.

However, OnlyOffice was really nice to use.

  • No trouble, don't worry. Thanks for the added source

  • You seem to be referring to this paragraph:

Regional experts at the Sibylline strategic risk group said there was “a realistic possibility that the explosion is a result of sabotage by a state actor,” though they did not specify Israel by name.

Who are those experts? Are they quoted in a more reliable source than the Daily Express? This publication is an absolute disgrace, they have lied and lied and lied agaim for decades, for example with Brexit. This article, unless corroborated by another source should be ignored completely.

  • Are we really posting Daily Express articles here?

  • Honestly, Linux has progressed immensely the past decade and I only read documentation when setting up servers these days. I'm mostly an Arch derivative desktop user but I still love Debian on the server side.

The Debian specific stuff are usually in the service description (email, web, ssh servers), and they are quite nice.

  • I've had some good experience in the past. All the Debian specific information was properly documented in the packages README files.

  • Frankly, it depends how much you use your bike. I commute these days with a used 150€ bike, for which I invested 100€ in upgrades. But that's because my commute is short (5km) and because it sleeps every day in the street next to a big train station. In the past I was commuting 2*10km daily and I had a 1000€ gravel bike that never stayed overnight in the street. It was definitely much more comfortable.

I would say a 300€ is fine for daily commute under 5km, but closer to 800-1000€ is probably a good idea for 10km and above.

  • Wow, the US website really pushes for the high-end bikes! In France they highlight the low-mid range (between 300 and 800€).

  • Trek is really expensive. Go to Decathlon or equivalent.
