  • Damn... I can't find a link, but I read somewhere that there was an internal bumbling at the FBI (shocker, I know) and they sent the link to their repository to everyone at the bureau instead of just the redaction team loyalists. If true, then there is certainly someone at the FBI with an unredacted set of files. If someone has a link that can confirm, I would love to bookmark it.

  • It does not require the Senate. Congress can vote to force the DOJ to release all the files on its own. It's speculated that the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, was using the government shutdown to stall the congressional vote, as well as using the shutdown as an excuse to not swear in the newly elected representative from Arizona.

  • My take? I think his brain has completely turned into pudding. He's been saying that line for so long that he actually believes it now. Yes there was a huge contingent at the FBI tasked with redacting the files, but the un-edited ones exist. Once Congress votes to publicize them, it becomes a lot less risky for a whistleblower to send the un-redacted copy to a sympathetic congress-weasel. Just my POV as an idiot.

  • At age 22, I engaged in a[n] consensual encounter with a 16 year old

No, you {assaulted} a 16 year old. This is the most basic math. 18=16+2. 16 < 18. Under 18 means non-consensual age. Non-consensual age means {assault}. It's not fucking hard. Admitting you're an {assaulter} for trump is not the power move you think it is. Straight to jail. If I had my way it would be straight to the fucking wall.

But of course, somehow you're the victim.

Edit: Removed a specific, applicable word because auto-mod was not happy.

  • It's a quick blood test. I didn't think my diet would warrant it either, but one day I woke up with a "sprained ankle." I figured it was just a muscle-spasm or something (I get really bad muscle spasms in my sleep sometimes). Two months later my partner is like: homey, this is not getting better. Stop being an asshole. I'm taking you to urgent care. Sometimes your liver just doesn't process certain things right and it ends up with uracil build-up. It wasn't like I had to get my foot chopped off. Just a little change in diet and now it's fine.

    Hope you get better homey!

  • Get checked for gout, especially if you just woke up that way and there was no apparent previous exertion or injury the previous day. It can present very similar to a sprain, but can last for months if left unchecked. Just my two cents, as this has happened to me before, and it was gout. A course of steroids cleared up the immediate pain and inflammation, and some minor changes to my diet has kept it cleared it up since then.

  • fucking so much

  • Not necessarily. Many off-shelf desktops are, let's put it nicely, "highly optimized for mass production." They may not have open slots required for upgrades. In the case of a GPU or CPU upgrade, the slot may be incompatible altogether, or, the mainboard may not have the proper bus to support the upgrade. I've had to sunset old machines that I built because I couldn't upgrade them. Not because they were incapable, but because the supported hardware was no longer in production. The only option for a RAM upgrade was paying some dingus on eBay $500 for a stick that would have been $60 if it was still in production.

As I said: You're a builder. It is not a value-add for you. You are not in their target demographic. I know a lot of people that would very much like to buy a gaming-ready PC that isn't loaded with crapware though. The Steambox is an actual PC. It's running SteamOS, which is just a Linux port. It has all the same functionality as a PC. If you don't like SteamOS, then go install Wine, or Ubuntu, or whatever flavor of Linux you prefer. Nobody is stopping you.

  • Agree. It's where they get all this hateful nonsense from. They don't actually read it. They go to church and have someone read selected passages to them, which are then twisted to reinforce whatever propaganda the speaker wants to spew.

I too got the fuck out because I actually read the fucking thing and was like: "wow. This god character is a fucking monster."

I liked the Jesus character though. He seemed like a cool hang.

  • Jesus would be very disappointed in you, Steve. I say this as an atheist that doesn't even believe in your fairy tales.

Read the bible, Steve. Jesus was a woke-ass leftist. It's all in there. He had quite a few things to say about the wealthy as well. You would know that if you ever read the thing you claim to worship. Do your fucking homework, Steve.

  • That's exactly what I'm getting at and, I think, exactly what Valve is getting at. Plus, while it functions like a console, it's still just a Linux box. Meaning that its functionality can be massively extended depending on the user. An Xbox is an Xbox. It will never do anything else, regardless of user preference. I really like the idea, and if it catches on, it means a large influx of Linux users.

  • It's targeted towards people that primarily run console already. People that don't have PCs, or have old, janky PCs. People that don't know how to build or upgrade a PC. If you already roll your own, then you are not the demographic.

I agree. I build my own machines, this is not for me. I like the idea though. I know a lot of people that just have off-the-shelf PCs. They can barely troubleshoot a PC, let alone build one. It also moves people towards Linux and away from Win/Mac. which is a good thing.

I had a young guy in one of my Discord channels. I shit you not: he wanted to clean his PC, so he cracked it open, got a wet rag, and wiped all the internals down. Then he messaged us asking why his PC won't turn on anymore. Bruh....

But the value-add for you? Nothing. You can just build your own shit. Most people can't piece together a functional PC though. It's a box with stuff in it.

  • "...and providing networking and training opportunities for law enforcement agencies."

Get a fucking LinkedIn, fucko. Do that shit on your own time like everyone else. Why does "dumbass cops networking" involve wasting hundreds of peoples' time?

  • Exactly why I'm getting my engineering degree and PE license.

  • Me personally? I like it. Beefy little gaming rig with a Linux-based OS? Yes please. Steam migrating more people towards Linux? Very big yes please. I'm unfortunately trapped in a dual-boot situation because Autodesk is a flaming pile of dumpster trash that only builds for Windows, but if Valve can move the needle, maybe that can change.

Their new Frame is also something I'm very interested in as well. The Index was crazy good when it came out. Dated now, sure, but the Frame addresses pretty much all of that. I'm glad to see they didn't just bow out of the market, but instead put the proverbial pencil to paper and worked on coming up with something really good.

  • Ahh Icarus. Famous for being highly successful at flight and definitely not crashing into the ocean and drowning.

  • Absolutely agree. Would I like it if everyone read Capital? Absolutely. That is a dense, esoteric tome though. I don't literally mean that nobody needs to read any theory. But as you say, a lot of it can be absorbed by osmosis from a leftist community.

  • Jonathan! Why are you on two planes?! You're supposed to be in class! Please see me after class. I want to talk about your grades.

  • GFD Jonathan! I know it sucks! You could have read it already though and Ms. Virgilio wouldn't give us extra homework! GAAAAH! You always DO this! I wish I was never born! GAAAAAAAH!

Ahh being a teenager again. Nah... I'm good. That shit sucked. XDXDXDXD

    Much love homey. No shade.
