  • I think you should make a thread on the community to really get your message across

  • I've heard people mention Wafrn as a Tumblr alternative, but haven't checked it out myself.

  • In a curious twist, I can't find !imageedits@lemmy.zip through a lemmy.zip account. It just doesn't show up in search, and clicking on the links I myself posted from this account leads to an error message.

  • Heil five!

  • That is a fair point. Promoting the community again should help take care of contributors as well, hopefully.

  • I think how open ended it is matters, as well as how quickly you can look at an image vs read a submission. Even on r/writingprompts, I always read a few and then moved on, while I could keep going on and on on PSBattles, because each image was just a glimpse and what they did with it was so different (at least it felt like compared to how writing prompts usually went). And personally, I agree about pivoting to a generic name.

  • Ayy, Rudy!

  • This is the video that led me to actually start taking a hard look at social media (I was already off of Instagram, but that was almost unconscious in that I just started loathing the app), and led me down the rabbit hole that eventually led me to Lemmy!

  • Inb4 they start making tiktoks about ignoring the calming music

  • Thanks!

  • No Dramione? 🤨

  • Even if it's just links, taking the time to find them yourself and post them is a useful step, since relevant doesn't always mean insightful or interesting.

Also, you're not completely tied to links. Make/ask for recommendations, life pro tips, etc.

  • Fair, but it was also in case someone else shared the lack of knowledge of the rules, but not the lack of interest.

  • This is such a well written piece, it's closer to a serious article than a blogpost

  • It's a type of short form poetry originating in Japanese, which consists of three lines, of 5, 7, 5 syllables each.

    For example:

in dark autumn nights / dew and the new bamboo shoots / reaching out to moon

Anyone who'd like to explore haiku (through writing or reading) is welcome in the community

  • I was right there as well. I saw creators I trust putting out stuff talking about the state of social media today (Technology Connections on YouTube in particular) and that was around when I started diving back into bluesky, then after a little more reading around, mastodon and lemmy. Never looked back after that.

  • Just posted there 6 hours ago, hopefully that picks up steam

  • !fakealbumcovers@lemm.ee got a lot of interest, but the higher barrier to entry means I'm still the only one posting. Edit: We have a new poster!

I did just promote it at !fakebandnames@lemmy.world, which should help a bit.

!haiku@lemm.ee by contrast already has a few other people posting, and I'm happy with how it's growing so far.
