Though I have lost some things I valued ( not up for that story right now) what I do still have is a photo of myself autographed by Mark Shuttleworth (of Ubuntu fame). It was from when I met him while he was touring after his adventure on the ISS. Reminds me of better times.
Im pretty sure this has been mostly common knowledge for a while. I think people are just a little more shocked by how blatant the powers that be are being lately regarding how little regard they actually have for the common people. There used to be a time when leaders would resign at any hint of a scandal. Now they revel in scandals.
How much would it costs to send all of the world's politicians to the titanic using ocean gate subs? Just suggesting they discuss their disagreements down there.
The realities of life i think. Most likely why close knit communities are cherished, as those things can actually mean something. Im speaking as someone in the same boat, royally screwed over by the unscrupulous.
