As I understand, it's no small task to build or maintain a working search index. There's a reason it's mostly been huge, corporate entities that take on the challenge, and why smaller search providers tend to rely on preexisting ones.
So I applaud Qwant and Ecosia on their initiative, but also understand that it may take a while before it bears fruit.
I understand the point of the argument, but as you say — it's a false premise because only one of them is an art tool. The other is a faulty clip art machine that literally steals from artists.
Very true 😄 Maybe somebody should make an exhibition of worn, dented and scratched tablets, focusing on those accumulated marks that were never intended as art?
Literally. I make and teach art, and everything starts with a tool that will leave a mark on a surface. Tablets are a step removed from that, but "genAI" isn't even close.
How the hell does using a drawing tablet correspond in any way, shape or form to using a generative "AI" that leeches off actual artists' skill, talent and labour?
No, don't try to argue against that question. Internalise it, and understand it.
I'd add "report" to that advice. If somebody is outright being jerks, that is probably against your instance's rules — and if it isn't, there are plenty others to choose from.
Blocking helps you, but reporting people (or instances) that are just here to troll will help others.
+1 re WiFi. As I recall, with older laptops you may have to dig around to find some WiFi drivers for Debian — but they're most likely there, just not in the default repo.
A fairly unsurprising statement from two people whose combined intellectual contributions are close to none. But they still may impress their idiocy upon a president who bolsters his lack of acuity with an impulse to tear things down.
On a good day he'll just redirect it to X. If he's off his rocker on ketamine he might have it display a deepfake porn video of himself performing oral sex.
Because "Musk sucks". That guy loves a dumb pun à la "let that sink in".
Just a word of warning re Session, it's tied up with a blockchain token so if you're not interested in cryptocurrency you might want to steer clear.
