  • I'm usually thinking about minotaurs or hoagie sandwiches.

  • I want to go to there.

  • Ive been off and on the linux game for two decades. I had a dalliance with linux from like 2005 - 2009. Thought i was too cool and got a Macbook, used that for 5 years. Was travelling without it and needed a cheap laptop ASAP and got a chromebook just to look for jobs and apartments. Used that for a few years until i went back to school and needed a windows laptop sadly.

As soon as I turned in my last assignment i performed a widows 10 update i had been putting off and it almost killed the laptop not just the windows install. I don't remember what happened but once i got it booting and windows reinstalled i said enough is enough and went back to linux.

That was 8 years ago and I haven't looked back. Linux had gotten so much better while i was away and gets better every day.

My real linux passion re-emerged with the rise of proton. I'd long since written off heavy gaming on linux and mostly played on consoles tbat whold time. Now between laptops, servers, steamdecks, "steam machines" and a desktop gaming pc there must be a bakers dozen linux computers scattered around my house. Throw in Pis and that number doubles.

I have a windows laptop that is locked in a cage in my basement that comes out once or twice a year. Its only job is to run sketchy chinese apps to update the odd device here and there. For everything else I've found a more compelling alternative on linux.

  • I hate this timeline. Daily fantasy already ruined sports now its coming for everything else.

  • I'm sure he's front runner for the 2026 FIFA peace prize.

  • Careful to collect their money first.

  • I feel like I go through the whole alphabet of options before giving up and rtfming.

  • I do too. Its pretty good but I feel not as good as search engines used to be. Though through no fault of its own. I just think garbage sites have paid for SEO and clog up results no matter what.

  • That picture of him blowing Bubba is Putin's most prized possession.

  • Idk how anyone searches the internet anymore. Search engines all turn up so I ask an AI. Maybe one out of 20 times it turns up what I'm asking for better than a search engine. The rest of the time it runs me in circles that don't work and wastes hours. So then I go back to the search engine and find what I need buried 20 pages deep.

  • I used to a lot as a kid. It was pretty much the only way to get some more obscure games.

I pretty much stopped in the mid 2000s except for some collectors editions of games that I was 99% sure were going to be great Halo3, Fallout3, New Vegas etc. I still do the same thing now with the odd switch collectors edition xenoblade chronicles, the final fantasy pixel remasters, unicorn overlord but those were games I was 99% sure would be finished at launch.

The rest of the time I wait a year or so until the game is half priced and finished.

  • Who uses a sock? Cumrag or GTFO.

  • Wash once a week, replace as needed which is probably 10 years or so. Then they become dog towels.

  • Its a minisforum hx90g. Its got a pretty beefy cooler and two decently big fans. I never hear it under my desk or on the TV stand.

  • My coworkers think I like building computers because I tinker with so much stuff, but no that doesn't seem super exciting to me anymore. I have mini PC with a laptop CPU and GPU in it. I like it quiet, small and power efficient. It is feeling long in the tooth these days but I haven't seen something with enough of an upgrade to be worth it.

Recently picked up a used office PC to throw a GPU into. Mostly because ram is so expensive and it cost less than buying ram itself but also because I'm lazy and don't really care about PC building.

  • Wealth the president dropped on us from a fighter jet?

  • I knew of Tesla and SpaceX and I'd vaguely heard of him but didn't really care so I wrote him off as another rich asshole immediately. Then I had some friends raving about him going to Mars and saving the world. I almost bought in but within a few weeks of that happening he called the guys who rescued the kids trapped in a cave a pedo just because he couldn't use his sub. That started my hatred of the man.

  • I just bought a used HP office computer basically for the 32 GB of DDR5 (only 5200 but I'll take it) on eBay. Just gonna throw a 9060xt in it for now. Combined its a sub 700 build. I'll probably swap it to a new mobo and case next year as the power supply is a little underspeccd and I believe the HP pinout is nonstandard. Maybe I'll just jam a flex PSU in there and pin the cables to match.
