  • The US would be in a much better place if more people stuck to their guns like her.

  • They need to pressure them to break ties with Nexstar and Sinclair. Until then I won't look at any thing they produce.

  • I always thought the same thing until I had to unload a plane one time because they found some corrosion on a bomb. A dumb bomb that was going on it's way to be dropped. Of course that was back in the Bush era when the US government was a little more picky about the war crimes they committed.

  • I mean chances of it happening are almost infinitesimal, but it is still something to consider. I was a munitions troop in the US military for 6 years and this was drilled into us. If there was anything on a bomb or missile it had to be sanded and repainted.

  • Fun fact: Writing on munitions can be considered a violation of the Geneva Convention. Under Article 23, it is forbidden to employ weapons with any substance intended to aggravate a wound. So unless that is a completely non-toxic marker, it could fall under that.

  • Some Christians believe the return of the Jewish people to their land is viewed by some as a sign of the end times, leading to the second coming of Jesus. And yes they want the rapture to happen. There is speculation that is why they so strongly want to defend anything Israel does.

Lindsay Ellis just did a great video on it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwpanShgOp4

  • It's was an unwritten requirement when configuring Cisco switches in the 00s too. Not sure of it still is, I haven't touched a router in 15 years.

  • It definitely wasn't one of DC's best adaptions. They really tried to squeeze too much in for the run time. They totally could have dropped the whole Atlas and Samson thing and concentrated more on the main story.

  • It's a good one. That one and All-Star Superman are the two I always recommend to people.

  • Superman

A lot of people dismiss Superman as being "too powerful" or "unrelatable." They’ll say Batman is more relatable because he doesn’t have superpowers. But seriously, how many of us can actually relate to being a billionaire playboy with unlimited resources? In contrast, Superman grew up in small-town, working-class America. He is as much Clark Kent as he is Superman.

People call him a "boy scout," as if that’s a flaw. But that misses the point. The fact that he has the power to rule the world and chooses not to, is what makes him extraordinary. He sets an ideal for people to strive for.

Yes, in the hands of a bad writer he can become a walking deus ex machina. But in the hands of a good writer, Superman becomes the core of some of the most powerful and iconic stories in comics. His greatness doesn’t come from what he can do, it comes from the choices he makes.

  • Sorry, the entire collection of government networks. Or at least the DOJ, IRS, HHS, and everywhere else they installed their own systems at. I figured it was obvious what I meant.

  • There is a good chance the entire government network is comprised thanks to DOGE. I've just been wait for someone to get access and leak it.

  • To answer OP's question, I'm American but spent a few years in the UK. Things that fascinated me included:

    • How green it is (being from Texas this was the first thing that stood out to me)
    • The shear amount of history that is just everywhere (I remember eat lunch at a park and reading a sign about how it was the site of a huge battle during the war of the roses)
    • Pubs (man I miss going to my local. We really don't have 3rd places in the US anymore)
  • I just moved to New England and this will be my first fall here. My property is completely surrounded by 50'+ trees. I'm sure it will get old quick.

  • I hated Product Managers as first but learned how they can be a valuable asset. Especially when dealing with customers or executives. They can handle all the crap throw at us and just filter down what we need know.

  • As a parent with a demanding job, I will get so distracted with life that I forget to reach back out. I even do it with family from time to time. I feel so bad that my brother reaches out to me more than I do to him.

I would just send a short message saying something supportive and non-judgmental. Like, "sorry I haven't reach out lately, things got busy (with my job/schoool/or whatever you do), just wanted to check and see how you are doing." Or something along those lines, to put the onus on you and easy her feelings if she does feel bad about not messaging you first. I would not immediately ask her to meet again. Just see if you can get the conversation going.

  • No, now we have 3 hours of un-allocated time on this contract which has upset the client

I hate this so much. I got told to work slower once and argued back that they should be more confident and sell contracts based on deliverables, not time and materials.
