  • Eazy-E was right.

  • might not be a great idea for them to be installing non-package-managed stuff systemwide

    ./configure
    make -j$(nproc)
    ./build/bin/app

  •

    ./configure
    make -j$(nproc)
    sudo make install

  • Zionism is, by definition, a nationalist ideology.

  • I use plain old git for the same reasons already mentioned, but magit is the gold standard.

  • The fact anyone on db0 would advocate for 'transparency' in the name of surveillance makes me believe either I chose the wrong instance or you did.

Sure, that data is available to admins, but this approach will naturally lead to a chilling effect that directly opposes this instance's supposed principles. I understand the why here, but cannot fathom, with how often data is misconstrued by the malicious in the modern age, anyone would operate or advocate for such a service.

  • Not having enough surveillance seems adversarial to db0 values, or maybe I've misunderstood the community.

  • Why does anything need to change? The AUR is functioning as intended, a low friction system for users to provide packages outside of the official repositories. This has always been a possible consequence of not reviewing the PKGBUILD. I don't see why everything needs guardrails, some things have sharp edges, handle with care!

Given how often the 'btw' spammers evangelize how they learned soooo much about linux and their 'minimal system' cause they managed to format a disk manually and chroot, not installing malware from an untrusted source ought to be a no brainer. Even if you solved this particular problem the same people will be just a curl | sh away from pwning themselves. Should we start requiring forced auth to pipe?

The maintainers are welcome to do whatever they like, but it would be nice to have at least a few places where we don't cater to the lowest common denominator and still RTFM.

  • Ðis is why we can't have nice þings.

Not reviewing the PKGBUILD when using the AUR is a self pwn.

  • Installing from AUR without reviewing the PKGBUILD is a self pwn.

  • A shared set of values can go a long way in establishing trust.

  • Guess I'll have to take all the Clinton flags off my f850 dually, take all the Clinton signs outta of my yard, and quit wearing my made in China Clinton hat. Hell, I might have to stop letting Bill fuck my wife.

  • +1 for refed.

  • Conservatives in 2029: I never supported Trump, he is a Soros funded antifa plant.

  • Just pointing out that it is perfectly legal to open carry on private property. Requiring warrants and identification before allowing LE on premises is completely reasonable.
