  • That sounds horrifying. Although also completely predictable and expected, but I didn't know that in Brazil it had reached that level. Isn't Lula supposed to do something about it? Back in his first presidency (I was in Brazil back then), Linux was becoming the main OS.

Although the usual 2 party system ensures that the next government would destroy everything, so I imagine all the open source effort was demolished and it can't keep being rebuilt from scratch every 4 years, when the next government return everything to microsoft.

Anyway, I sent you a message because I have personal interest in the issue. Thanks for the useful but horrifying information.

  • Ah ok. I guess that's bad. Thanks for the report. I wanted to do it too. I hope he gets something for reporting that's not github.

  • What do so you mean no labels? On my one the menus have icons and text.

Yeah I saw the Google thing, I tried many things and I couldn't deactivate it. It bothered me but I dismissed it at something I don't understand and I imagine Firefox uses that too. But it looked like a red flag to me.

  • I noticed that too and was surprised. Though I haven't tried it yet.

  • Thanks for the information. It confirms my impression that my dream is impossible.

I wanted to build my own house myself, which is a massive challenge. But the idea that it will be made twice as difficult because of other people, not the challenge itself, made me give it up. I wouldn't have the emotional stability to tolerate that.

I'm not a fucking corporation wanting to profit from other people's work. I just want a place to live! I fully support all possible regulations and fees scaling with the intended profit and people hired, but how come someone wanting to get a place to live have to put up with the same as someone wanting profit? Or worse, usually even more, since parasites have many ways of avoiding tax and other things...

And the price of land is a consequence of the same issue: that the market is made for "investors", vampires, undead and other horrors.

The rest, septic tanks, solar system, etc, they are just natural parts of the challenge. Nothing to complain on that, quite the opposite; how easy it is now to generate your own energy with solar is a great show of progress. There will be costs with that, or with linking to the structure someone else paid and provided.

  • The money I had saved was meant to buy a house. But quite a while ago I gave up. Athough what I had is a lot (for me), it's not enough to buy a house in this country dominated by investors.

Like I said, I live in a van. I consume very little already, and I try to consume less all the time. Compared to the average australian I'm basically non existent.

I don't want to invest in this country. I could invest in Cuba, Palestine, somewhere with an embargo as long as they are not too evil. Money I spend or save here will become taxes which will be used to pay murderers. But I have no idea of where or how. There the saying "a fool and his money are soon parted" and I am a fool in financial terms, and I don't want it to just go to people taking advantage of me.

I don't mind if it's risky, as long as the risk is noble. A company struggling with american embargo, for instance, have a good chance of going down, and I hope to help them. But someone just stealing my money is a different kind of risk.

  • Except that they are so hostile to open source and custom roms.

I always check if they are an option since the phone is guaranteed to be free from google garbage on boot and I'm always disappointed.

They could be the go to for everyone who hates google but they just shot themselves in the food instead.

  • Again, I gave the impression I'm against it.

They will find the excuse to attack and murder whoever they want, as you said. And this time this will be the excuse they will use. And praise Yemen for standing up against them despite what will come.

  • Sorry, that was not against it. The world needs brave countries like Yemen to show that there is resistance. I wish I could do something even though I knew it would be suicide. But that's what I was saying, it's suicide. Martyrdom.

But on the hitler part, if they controlled all the super powers, the global media and had massively stronger military power with atomic bombs, there would have been no other side. They would have won and we would be talking about the holocaust of the poor arian race, which justified everything they did. To make it clear, they would have taken the place of the israel.

  • Because in response of this, israel will probably kill 1000 in Yemen, and Palestine as well, just to remind them.

I admire Yemen, but attacking the group that controls all the most powerful countries and weapons is suicide. As they said many times, they will kill 1000 palestinians for every israeli killed, or hurt, or annoyed, or just because a zionist hit his toe in the bed this morning.

  • From what you said, you are giving facebook what they want. They have no reason to block you. You have interacted a lot with the website and for a long time. They have learned much from you and your interests. If your pictures are fake or not it's probably irrelevant to them.

What I'll do, interact with their marketplace, is also in their interest and help them, which makes me hate myself for doing it and I'll limit to only things I absolutely can not find outside of facebook. And I will try to find what I need outside first.

  • Specially with servers in the US I wouldn't be too hopeful about it. Or at all.

But even if the server is in europe, if I were facebook I would certainly keep a room of backups labeled something else just in case. Unlikely fines in the present and possibly massive profit in the future for whatever reason. Why not? The thing is that no one should expect that info uploaded to the internet can be ever really deleted. There should be campaigns to make people more aware of that. As in "we made these laws to protect you, but the only real protection comes from you".

  • Here in the united states of the south privacy laws are foreign concepts. But even if we had laws I wouldn't trust it. What's stopping them from making a backup of the data, deleting from the main server and saying "there, I did it"?

To me once the company gets your info, you lost it. But to still receive spam is a problem. I had the same issue with companies here. I would like to at least be removed from their spam list.

  • Thanks for that link, there seems to be a lot of useful stuff there! I can see teddit, which haven't worked for a long time. But still interesting.

The less info they can collect on me, the less profitable I am and most likely to be blocked, I imagine. My objective and facebook's objective are in direct conflict. Not giving them info and still interacting to people who use it is the challenge.

  • Yeah, after reading your post I searched and found a few. All looking super dodgy.

I'm sure they don't care about people selling the account. However I get the account, as long as they can profit from me it's all they would care. But I think it would go back to the initial reason they blocked me, because it doesn't seem that I would be profitable.

So I'm not sure if going through one of those dodgy websites and buying that would not get the same result..

  • I am happy to pay for useful services to companies I trust, and facebook is possibly the last one on the list. Even if they told me they don't track me I wouldn't believe. Not they would be even allowed not to, being an american company...

  • Where?

I think there would be a good chance they would know I'm not the original owner, with all the changed behaviour, and then they would still block me.

But it's something I didn't think about... doesn't seem like a good option, but an option still..

  • Oh... that's bad. But I always imagined that that might do it. I just don't know if I need them enough to go that far.

Unfortunately I think I know the answer and I'm not wanting to face it...

I wish there was something I could donate to help destroy facebook. I don't want to give them 1cent, but I would pay a few thousand dollars if I thought I had a chance of removing its influence from my life.

  • Social websites are only worth the people using it. Here it's only facebook unfortunately. There used to be gumtree which was great, but now it's dead.

But so, do I need to use my real name? I imagine they have all sort of features to know if you are fake, and I don't know what those rules are. I imagine it depends a lot on many things, like location, operating system, etc. I use Linux and Firefox, and just from that they probably know there's a higher chance that I'm someone who hates facebook and might try to make a fake account.

I've done from maybe 3 different devices, so I don't think that's what fixes it.

They always let me make the account and use it. But on the next day, or even the same day, they block it.

Oh, but what are the proxy websites? That would already be a nice thing to know. I know I would have to log in on them, but I don't know if facebook even allows a third party website to log people on.
