  • Dunno, I just don't believe my NixOS config files are particularly valuable. What is the benefit of sharing garbage code from a novice? I'd rather share things worth sharing, that could be useful to someone else.

  • I do the same thing. Anything I put on there isn't something that I would share with the Internet anyway. If it was a serious project, sure. It's just nice to have a personal git you can access over a VPN sometimes.

  • Ignorance of what? It seems that if you're using a word the same way your sub culture uses a word, it's correct. Or rather that words can only be used correctly within a context.

  • My disagreement with the show came primary from the premise that we rely more on technology than we do on people(not sure he was trying to make that point but the whole thing about loss of electricity leading to bad anarchy leads me to interpret it that way). However I also believe that with our technology we could be very close to a post scarcity world.

We could feed everyone, house everyone, etc. at our current level of technology. Should we decide we want to increase contentment by giving people more free time we could. It's because some people value other things that we do it the way we do.

  • How much work do we actually need to do to maintain our lifestyle? I'd say a lot less than we're currently doing. Just think about all the waste that goes into Bitcoin. What about insurance, or any number of jobs. Humans create systems (or that's what I got out of that episode of connections) but those systems are not necessarily efficient at benefiting equally.

  • So I can't actually find anything from a quick search that tells me what "bread poisoning" is. Searches show results for both moldy bread as well as ergotism. Just about every source on the Internet tells me that eating a bunch of moldy bread should just give you a bad case of shits or vomits. But if someone is immunocompromised or has gut issues it could be worse.

But if this was ergot poisoning that's different and doesn't have much to do with ordinary bread mold.

  • One of the best things in games that aren't super polished or balanced is figuring out how to exploit the game. It gives you the same kind of feeling you get from getting to the end game in Gothic (or something like that). Getting powerful through your own skill and commitment to the game. Steady progression is good sometimes, but so is feeling progress.

Also yeah sometimes I cheat in single player games

  • It's crazy how you hurt less if you exercise all the time

  • It's really the only answer, an no I don't speak Cantonese. But I could make up fake translations for everything they say.

  • Sometimes I feed the chickens worms or bugs I find in the garden, they go nuts! It's a little scary.

  • Oh man, I've tried venison several times growing up in the sticks. It's gross. Most people I know made it into jerky or sausage or something to make it taste better.

  • What vegetarians eat instead of meat for a protein is not usually ultra processed food, though it can sometimes be. From my personal experience it usually consists of regular cooked beans. Sometimes sometimes they get fermented and processed into things like tempeh, or tofu. I suggest this is because that ultra processed stuff is expensive, beans are dirt cheap, and tofu is cheap(and delicious). The vegan athletes I know supplement their diet with vegan protein powder, but nearly all people who are serious about being athleats use protein powder.

There's other protein sources too, if you make overnight oats with soy milk and hemp seeds (or flax seeds or nut butters) you can easily get 20+ grams of protein.

Most of the vegans I know will also eat eggs from responsibly farmed chickens, which is pretty easy to check where I live.

  • I think it's totally natural for humans to eat meat. But also definitely more moral to abstain from eating it.

  • Wow, I didn't even think of that. It's really dumb and doesn't hold up to even mild scrutiny but that hasn't stopped them in the past.

  • Insulin

  • If I'm remembering the original sysntesis for insulin used dogs, and it was harvest from them after being killed. It's unjust that insulin is so expensive, but also modern production methods are not the problem here. It's greed.

  • I have to practice pretty hard to do that, it's much easier in a journal than in my head to dialogue. Do you find it helps being mindful?
