World News@lemmy.ml•Yoon Suk Yeol sentenced to life in prison for leading insurrection in South Korea
6·2 months agoEven the 재별 stocks go up and down based on negotiation results with workers and the heads are still somewhat responsible for their actions (nut rage lady?) so I’d take that over nothing. I agree things could be improved further in some aspects but there are solid foundations to work on here.

Linux@programming.dev•Does anyone have a good suggestion for a markdown note organiser?
3·2 months agoYou can put all your notes in a single folder with Obsidian. Use a note to link to other notes, the first note will act as your “notebook”

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The rich oppose clean energy because it is renewable. If clean energy became non renewable, or fossil fuels became renewable, they would no longer oppose a transition to clean energy
1·3 months agoThere are batteries, recent advances have resulted in cheaper batteries that can store more power.
Alternatively the energy can be used to create hydrogen and that can be transported.

Checks all the boxes: local storage and streaming, detection, recognition.
Should work fine with most cameras, but configuration is via YAML only, no GUI.
You can try a DDNS service to get a fixed domain name bound to your dynamic IP. Most modern routers support a few providers, try looking in the settings. They are mostly free for personal use.
I’m using one of these “shady” cameras that have good reviews. Yes they require an internet connection to set up but once you are done you can just wall them off from the internet and stream locally to your box ;)
I have the same thought. Group chat is a solved problem, why do people keep flocking to shittier alternatives is beyond me. Want notifications? Install a bouncer, done.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Transliterated country names into Chinese Language use pre-existing characters that already has its own meaning, therefore native Chinese speakers have a subconcious impression based on country names.
2·4 months agoThey didn’t know the earth was round when they named their own country (a looooong time ago). They really thought it was the center of the universe and their kings were sent from heaven

Well, if you win that much then you must go to the lottery’s bank (NH) to receive it. As most banks have foreign remittance services I’m sure they will figure out a way to send it abroad for you. Ask for documentation to show your home bank where did the money came from and I think you’re good.
Scratch ticket? Congratulations ^^
