  • Honestly, how it's been so far here this year, it's pretty much the perfect season. Temperature during the day between 18C and 25C. Warm in the sun, but with a cold wind. Cooler in the night, so I can sleep decently. And nice and sunny, with very long daylight. I always notice that I'm a lot happier when it's light outside, so I'm feeling a lot better in this weather. I do agree that the 30+ C days and 20+ C nights are hell, mostly because airco's aren't that common here

  • Exactly. I think it's easy for autistic people like me to fall into this mindset. When I was younger I was quite disillusioned with the world, mostly because I didn't fully fit in. Feeling like I was in some way better, because I was driven by logic instead of emotion, was probably a defense mechanism or something. In truth it was not that I didn't have emotions, I just wasn't able to listen to them. Luckily I never really got into the far right "facts don't care about your feelings" bullshit.

  • It's still pretty scary though. The far right wasn't usually this close to the top. It's like whole political center has been obliterated. Which, to be fair, is something they kinda caused themselves. People have lost trust in the government and are more and more just putting their faith in populists. I'm happy we're at least somewhat matching that with a progressive/left/green vote, but still, scary times.

  • You can't just pretend that you're "driven by logic" and ignore your "weak" emotions forever. If the foundations upon which you build your personality are rotten, there will be point where it all comes crashing down. Until that moment you just waste time pretending to be someone you aren't.

  • 20-23C, partially cloudy, cold-ish wind but quite hot in the sun. At night is should cool down to like 10-14C. Preferably with summer-like day length, I don't really like the dark. But I don't mind the variation, and I can also really enjoy a sunny -10C winter day or a stormy 5C autumn day.

  • Niet zeker of dit de "NL Plan" meme beter of slechter maakt

  • I'm not so sure that the laypeople will, but I do expect a shift. Personally I'm still running Windows 10 next to Linux currently. Most of my time is still spent on Windows, because it's generally a bit more stable and hassle free due to the Windows monopoly. Software is written for Windows, so sadly it's usually just a better experience.

But so many things I read about Win 11 (and beyond) piss me off. It's my computer, I don't want them to decide things for me or farm my data. I'm mentally preparing for the transition to Linux-only. 90% of the software I use will work out of the box, and I think with some effort I can get like 8% of the rest to work. It'll be a lot of effort, but Micro$oft has pushed so far that I'm really starting to consider.

Multiple friends and colleagues (all programmers) I spoke are feeling the same way. I think Linux may double in full-time desktop users in a few years of this goes on.

  • Maybe you should learn how to hold a normal discussion without attacking the other party. Cursing and telling the other party to fuck off just because they disagree with you will not convinced anyone of anything and will only make you look bad. It's not like the person you're responding to is advocating for school shootings or anything else immoral.

  • As an asexual (who really finds sex yucky): guess I'll die

  • I do, but I've gotten better at it. More often than not I just struggle to get started. So just forcing myself to get started results in actually doing what I wanted to do. Sometimes I'm just exhausted, and I accept that I'm just gonna "waste" the evening with video games or something. Rather have some enjoyment than nothing.

That being said, I'm still learning to be better. I'm still too judgemental and unrealistic to myself

  • I hope for this person that they switch direction every now and then. Constantly turning in the same direction doesn't sound optimal

  • Haribo is nice, but if I'd allow myself to eat candy again I'd devour bags full of salty/salmiac licorice before going for the sweets again.

  • Hmmm, then we have different experiences I guess. A lot of people that I know (friends, family, etc) who used to regularly eat sweets all quit almost 100%. More than fat or processed foods I always hear people talking about reducing sugar/carbs. But that's probably just anecdotal. Still it's surprising to me that they need to produce more, not less, given that people seem to be watching what they eat way more than 10 years ago.

  • Okay, but have you ever tried being sad even though rationally speaking everything is going super well? ( Don't worry about me, I managed to get out of that vibe :3 )

  • Damn. I would've expected candy demand to be on a downhill trend, as people seem more and more focused on eating more healthy. I probably live in a bit of a bubble then...

  • Yeah that's probably why it's so noticeable to me as well. I'm not exactly counting calories yet, but I've been trying to reduce the amount of excess carbs and calories in my meals. So seeing this is quite the shock.

  • 600 cal?! Sjeesh. Puts into perspective how overkill desserts like these are. I just ran for an hour and (according to my watch) burned like 800-900 cal, which I don't fully trust. One of these bad boys would probably undo all of the hard work

  • What's wrong? I find this a reasonable result. Most people looking for megabyte to bytes are actually looking for mebibytes, since the mega- prefix is literally just times a million but a lot of programs actually list mebibytes as "megabytes".

  • So they're just gonna cry that the EU is the cause of all of our problems. It's Wilders, he always needs someone else to blame. I'm afraid that he'll try to convince a substantial part of Dutch society that "we need to take back control" from Brussels just like they did in the UK. A lot of people don't like nuance and complexity, they just want a silver bullet and people like the PVV and BBB promise them that. Let's pray that NSC and the VVD (lol) have some integrity.

  • I don't understand how other countries manage to remain civilised without eating a broodje hagelslag regularly.
