I hope he doesn’t nibble any of it. Weed is quite toxic to doggos. Mine found a gummy or somesuch in a friend’s car and spent the night convulsing and peeing on herself. Scary night.

Mine loves chaotically jumping in rivers, creeks, and lakes but hates the rain.

Why do you use the distro you use?
I’ve used many distros over the years (and test spin up many in virtuals to see what they are like) but keep coming back to Debian. I also like vanilla ice cream.
The US govt has done worse (cf. Phil Zimmerman)
press the down arrow to select it and then shift + backspace to delete its memory of that suggestion
Bless you, kind lemming.
It’s a good question. I find it odd that they are separate entities but mail service still requires an Escapees membership.
90% of the time I use web interfaces, but I often have spotty connectivity while boondocking. So I need a client that can get/send gmail POP3 in narrow windows of connectivity.
I started with thunderbird but something (can’t remember what) wasn’t working well. Ended up with Evolution. It also syncs well to google calendar and google tasks.
My cargo van doesn’t have windows, but here are my most recent spots in reverse chronological order:
My present location is a bit of an anomaly as it is a somewhat-developed official BLM campsite. Pit toilet, trash cans, and covered picnic tables. What luxuries! It’s very quiet, dark skies, and only lightly visited. There are 4-5 sites depending on how you count and only 2 are taken. I won’t divulge the location directly but the clueful will be able to suss it out. :-)
Because it was a student project I expect it was a one-and-done.
How often do you downgrade Firefox versions
I don’t remember ever downgrading a browser (started out on NCSA Mosaic).
Having switched to Zen Browser
Recently tried Zen – I think it’s pretty and shows promise but has a few dealbreakers that preclude my using it as a daily driver. TL;DR: “I slightly prefer the zen UI but not enough to overcome the annoyances. I’ll check back on the project next year if it’s still active.”
What do you guys use for Windows to Linux remote access?
Putty
I want to see desktop
Some kind of VNC setup
I generally only reboot for stuff like kernel updates.
Saw the .de
domain and my first thought was this was about using a potato ricer to make spätzle. I may not be normal.
How do you exercise your dogs in bad weather?
Every day, wearing dog coat if required.
Off-leash Chihuahuas and mini dachshunds are the bane of my (leashed) pibble’s existence on walks. They are forever running up and getting right in her face. When they bite her or latch onto her throat she lays down on them. After a few squishes the dog usually gives up while the panicked owner wails “I’m so sorry… Princess! Come here Princess!.. I’m so sorry… I’m so sorry.”
My dog is chill but if she eventually ragdolls a biter I don’t want to hear any complaining about it. FAFO.
Why don’t you get a diesel heater for the winter?
I follow mild weather and so am very rarely in freezing temperatures. On chilly mornings making coffee and breakfast over propane warms the interior significantly.
If I ever did install a vented heater like that it would likely be a gasoline version, since the PM’s tank already has a place on it to tap.
2017 RAM Promaster 159" high roof. Most of the year I boondock on public land but in winter I come to a city where my VA provider is located.
What tips/ideas do you have for getting better at navigating the terminal, and getting a better understanding of how the os works
Running an OS as a virtual is liberating. Dive in, make mistakes, fix them (or not and have to reinstall or redo from the last save). No real consequences for exploring.
Someone’s a very good boy (or girl). :-) Thanks for jumping in.
