  • Nah I'd put money on it being quantum computing. I think quantum has some neat applications, and the tech is cool as hell. But I think it'll be sold like "this is gonna instantly transform business overnight" and people will try to sell quantum computing power

  • I've had a lot of trouble getting started with this. I have 4 figures of hours into Factorio, I LOVE 2D side scrollers. Any advice? Maybe it's like starting build problems or something

  • Man i think B is cool

  • Fuck me that is so perfectly on the nose

  • Nope. Motherboard SPDIF to ("dumb") speakers. Can't get the mobo SPDIF out to work in Mint.

I'm certain if I sink enough hours in I can figure something out but like 6 hours into troubleshooting this I decided I didn't have the bandwidth to take 100% of my fun time away to do what feels like my job to me.

  • Man i wish Mint worked out of the box as well as virtually everyone on here says it does.

I am a former software engineer, and don't want my home PC to be a hobby. I'm like 6 hours into trying to make my (simple) audio setup work on Mint Cinnamon and it's intermittent at best. Never have even thought about it on Windows.

It is plug and play compared to Linux of old, it's clearly come a long way. But it's nowhere near as easy as Windows still, for anyone who isn't trying to make this a hobby

  • I drive a BMW to signal that I made it… or that Brantley made it, but that’s the same thing, we’re a team.

So good. The name is chef's kiss

  • It would be a pleasant surprise if that's the worst thing the device did

  • Could be in and out of the machine often at a site/plant that requires it outside and doesn't bother to take it off?

The reality is that it's probably a photoshoot

  • They tell you to put it to airplane mode first, and it's Denmark so the vast majority of people follow a rule like that.

I guess you go downstairs and get it unlocked if it's really bothering you, then come back. I have a feeling that things like "everyone doesn't respect the rule and the amber alert is annoying now" are very low likelihood here.

  • Can anyone explain for someone really out of the loop? I don't know this person or what trivago is

  • I've been to a few concerts where they put phones in little bags that you can unlock when you go outside, so there's 0 phones. It's pretty cool

  • Obligatory, even the Danes can't understand the Danes.

Hej fra Danmark, and stay the hell away lest I beat you with a stick*

*As far as I know this law is a myth, and was never real. But if the Øresund ever freezes again I'm sure every bar in Copenhagen will be talking about the law

  • Hello, US born engineer with only US passport, but I now live in Denmark working. Happy to answer any questions you have on it.

The super short is that it's been tough but very rewarding. We left before the last election so it wasn't specifically to run away from trump but that's kinda part of the idea lol

  • Yup! I left the US for Denmark and the public transit was a driving (pun intended) factor. We went from a bunch of vehicles (3 cars and 4 motorcycles) to bicycles and taking the train and I absolutely love it

  • Wow this looks cool. Wish listing it now!

  • Are you there now? Staying for F1 this weekend?

  • Bedre end 1'eren er en høj standard! Jeg tror også at Hades 2 er fantastisk, og meget længere (jeg tænker, vi skal se). Jeg hører soundtracket nu når jeg arbejder

  • I was working in pure software engineering and we had to attend a meeting/presentation about some use cases for it.

It's one of things that any useful tech would never need. Do you think the airplane, the cell phone, the internet, any other useful tech you can think of needed brainstorming sessions for use cases? Hell no, they couldn't implement their ideas as fast as they wanted because the uses are so obvious
