  • Denmark checking in. A lot of our highways have separate parallel bicycle highways. It's really great! They have exits in the same spots as cars do and have big sound barriers.x

  • Thanks!

  • I tried to find it on his channel and couldn't. Got a link?

  • I agree, if the US also used their tax dollars as intelligently as the Danish government does as well.

Seems like a pipe dream, but I hope at least parts of the US become more modern in those ways in my lifetime

  • It has no business being that good

  • I think Outer Wilds is the most unique and fantastic way to tell a story I've ever experienced. Truly open in a way I've not seen before or since.

With the banger of a soundtrack too, I just can't bring myself to rate other games higher than it; even if I enjoy them more, Outer Wilds is probably the best game I've ever played.

Slay the Spire probably makes the list as it's inspired countless tweaks on its incredibly balanced deck building experience

  • I pay quite a bit in Denmark, but used to live in the US.

I pay more taxes now (not THAT much more but definitely more). However I see what I get for my taxes here: healthcare, bicycle lanes, cheap and very good trains/metro/ferries/buses everywhere, etc., and sooo much support for people. It makes me proud to pay taxes here, even though of course I always want more in my pocket and I want more for my money.

In the US I hated the taxes because I paid more than rich people (as they pay nearly none) and I didn't feel like i got a lot from them.

No problem with taxes as a concept, but I hate how the US uses tax money

  • What distro are you using? I really wanna take the leap and have the same worries

  • I actually do know. I briefly worked in F1, and I also separately registered my own car with a properly hand built chassis to NY state registration standards.

They are orders of magnitude apart. It's like saying "both this IKEA glass and the space shuttle took quite a bit of engineering". Trust me, more hours were put into any mundane F1 part than almost any other vehicle out there

  • This breaks down thousands of hours before an F1 car starts because it takes thousands of people to design them

  • Okay but it's still definitely soulless AI slop, fingers aside

  • Mom has more fingers than daughter? This just feels like AI slop

  • Yup, same. And that smug sense of superiority that comes with it.

I'll be excited to whip out a Phillips head screwdriver on the day my USB c port acts up to swap it :D

  • Anytime the dude looks up grooming the other kind distracts him and he learns nothing of the beard

  • So evenly tax everyone to support everyone instead of proportionally (more money, more car) tax people to support everyone?

    Disagree

  • Where the hell is the spider?

  • US ex pat (during Biden's term) in the EU, also engineer

There's lots of jobs in English in lots of countries. A larger company has a much better chance of bringing you over. I would try applying for stuff as you see fit and go in with an open mind. It's been tough but very very rewarding for us so far.
