  • What agenda could I possibly have regarding your inability to navigate minor every day interactions?

You don't have any God damned facts. You seem to think your Drs receptionist is involved in a conspiracy to manipulate you into refusing treatment and paying a no-show fee.

You should probably get that looked at.

  • I'm incredulous. That's an absurd claim.

  • I think it's a "threat" but not a very good one.

There might be 3 brands of toothbrush available to buy in the US but maybe all of them are manufactured in China. If you just tariff everything from China then US consumers will just pay more because there's no incentive for manufacturers to absorb the tariff.

It's a threat to Chinese toothbrush manufacturers because it creates an incentive for other manufacturers to pop up elsewhere, maybe someone will start manufacturing toothbrushes in the US. These toothbrushes would be cheaper than the tariffed ones for consumers to buy, but obviously more expensive than toothbrushes used to be before the tariffs.

In summary, because consumers are unlikely to buy less toothbrushes, they just end up paying more.

  • What is their motivation to lie about it?

  • But when gen z gets old they won't be self interested like every other generation since forever /s.

  • Sadly, I think you're right.

It's absurd that the wealthiest people in the world are making all the decisions that effect the rest of us, especially when they're using that control to influence the rest of us through social media.

I think the only solution is a revolution where wealth is redistributed, probably through violence.

Bezos and Musks assets should just be nationalised. Give them pensions of 10m a year or something in return.

  • Seems like a lot of support honestly.

  • You know you can call your drs office to check whether they're running behind right?

  • Not really. They're both link aggregators but to say it's simply a clone is reductive.

  • I think you may have just misunderstood the post.

It's not intended to trap the web crawlers indexing content for google search.

It's intended to trap AI training bots harvesting sentences in order to improve their LLMs.

I don't really have an answer as to why those bots don't find your content appealing, but that doesn't mean that Nepenthes doesn't work.

  • I dislike the constant reddit comparisson.

Lets just try to be our own thing. Not like reddit and also not unlike reddit just be lemmy.

  • It's not saying "everyone come to lemmy" it's saying "everyone post more an reinvigorate communities".

  • No democracy is perfect.

America's is less perfect than many.

That said, Trump won the popular vote.

  • I agree that things are bleak. I also try to focus on practical, local things on which I can have a positive impact.

I'd like to think that some things will get better, and others will be less bleak.

Climate change is occurring quicker than we had hoped, but we are making progress towards mitigating the worst effects, even of that progress is slower than we had hoped.

  • Not trying to be an ass but American cars havent been great since forever.

  • IKR.

Call me a gatekeeper but it's not secret arcane knowledge for a privileged few.

You just sign up the same way you've done anything ever.

  • I always text people because it's quicker to get a response than email but it's less invasive than a call... they can respond at their convenience.

  • I don't know much about it but I've read that captchas are very easy for bots to solve.

  • That's the thing about ADHD memes, they tend to resonate with a lot of people who are apparently not ADHD.

I'm not an expert and others here will explain this better than me.

If this behaviour is an indicator of ADHD, then the severity could be arranged along a spectrum. Someone with ADHD is more likely to exhibit the behaviour in an excessive and harmful way.
