  • I was also speaking from experience. I recognize that 'unfinished' is definitely a style that some people like. I rocked a desk for the better part of 5 or so years that was literally a stage platform (2x4 framing with a plywood lid) I had made and didn't want to sand or stain.

That said, it's also kind of in the name- the sanding and stain/paint are called 'finishing' because they are the final steps for a finished end product. I would say the same thing about sketches in that there are scenarios where they are acceptable and stand on their own, but they're generally not considered a finished product. A sketch is kind of like the rough stage of a carpentry build: it's the hard part. The stages that come after are a lot of tedium, but the main structure is there and the finish line is in sight.

That was a lot of words to say I generally agree with you but feel that it's still a reasonable comparison.

  • By that logic, it's also a hostile activity to close the bathroom door when I'm taking a fat shit. Privacy isn't just for criminals.

  • The example you provided isn't upscaling. Upscaling is the act of interpolating pixels to increase the resolution of a bitmap image. What you've done is had the AI color and shade in your sketch.

Frankly, it's clear from the sketch that you have some great foundational skills. I don't really understand why you would stop halfway and let a computer steal the learning and practice opportunity from you. It's like a carpenter building a piece of furniture and just stopping before sanding and painting it.

  • I think a toastie and a panini are very similar, but a panini typically uses a stiffer bread and the toastie is kind of sealed on the sides. A grilled cheese (US) is typically a cheese sandwich toasted in a pan, so kind of somewhere in between a toastie and a panini

  • Anything other than cheese on a grilled cheese makes it a panini, not a grilled cheese.

  • If those games can do LAN connections (computers on the same network), you could use something like Hamachi to put your computers on a virtual network together. I'm sure there are more modern versions of Hamachi, but that's how I used to do it in the early 2010s.

  • Nice strawman you got there.

  • This was my phone hotspot for a while, but it was "ItHzWhenIP"

  • No, but the way clanker has been adopted and expanded upon by the internet has made it into an analogue for the n word.

The term was originally a pejoritive for battle droids in the Star Wars prequel films, and was then adopted by the anti-AI crowd.

From there, it grew into 'clanka' (no hard R, just like the n word) jokes, and moved into other analogues like 'Jim Code laws', 'George Droid', and 'Rosa Sparks'.

  • I wish I had a petabyte ssd! There'd be so much room for activities!

  • Ads that pretend to be normal content are literally the fucking worst kind of ad and anyone who suggests implementing them should be dragged out back and shot.

Not surprised that stack exchange is doing this, given that they seem determined to drive away their entire userbase.

  • Good.

  • Lol thank you, I'm dumb

  • I am not a programmer, but whenever I hear something is an electron app, I immediately expect it to be unresponsive as fuck and fail to perform its basic functions adequately. Does it really have a reputation to the contrary? Or is that the joke and I'm an idiot?

  • Oh, that makes sense. I just try to stagger my dryer and washer when doing multiple loads so that I can empty the dryer before the washer finishes, but I can see how having a second dryer would help me on a lazy day.

  • Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but why two dryers and one washer? Are the capacities vastly different?

  • Paywalled
