Y'all need more glutinous rice based cakes in your life!
Tteobokki is easily accessible as it's Korean and trendy. But it's just the beginning of that delicious side of rice!
In China they had delicious variations. Salty and sweet alike.
粢饭糕 (zifangao) were a bit big. Fishstick sized. Deep fried. I usually had them as a dessert but the rice itself is neutral so it would work salty as well no doubt. Main thing is to eat it while it's hot, with a crunchy outside and the inside almost creamy.
But my favourite were the sliced nian gao. Imagine a roll of soft rice dough, ovalish in shape section. Cut in slices and those you can either fry or eat En sauce, like gnocchi really. Fantastic stuff!
Dammit I wish those were more accessible in Europe T_T
I'm more shocked by the shite installed on that poor phone than on the look of the icons. They look deliciously fluffy :)
Make them squishy / reactive to pressure and you got a deal!
Our new tech lead loves fucking AI, which let's him refactor our terraform (I was already doing that), write pipelines in gitlab, and lots of other shiny cool things (after many many many attempts, if his commit history is any indication).
Funnily, he won't touch our legacy code. Like, he just answers "that's outside my perimeter" when he's clearly the one who should be helping us handle that shit. Also it's for a mission critical part of our company. But no, outside his perimeter.
Gee I wonder why.
I literally knew a guy like that in Ireland. I swear I don't even know how I knew him, but I just remember him honing in on me to talk about fucking Linux in the pub every time he'd see me. I didn't even use Linux on my own machine! ;_;
The way I see it, if you bother me to do a PR, you bet I will give it my 100%
Either that or I just refuse to do it.Half-assing it would only hurt my image. And then it would be a bother because whatever I didn't catch would very probably be some shit I would have to hunt down anyway later down the line since I'm the guy they escalate things to in the team :/
There is a great concept in Transhumance Space where I-forget-which-flavour-of-religion has their members accept a companion AI that is trained on the scripture and will question/advise the believer's decisions throughout their day. I'm quite surprised this one hasn't come true yet, as we literally have all we need to do it right now!
Only Outlook drives more insane : the fucking looking up of every single fucking email in the address textbox, just so it can put some fucking status badge or some other dynamic shit I don't care about. It's atrocious. And it's so well done it does it for every address every time you add an address. It's so slow I will literally write addresses in notepad so I can just paste them all in one go and endure that lookup only once.
Ye gods I lived exactly through this. We had Mattermost installed on test server and it was like night and day with Teams. But as you say, the bean counters don't care if you're happy. "We already got Mattermost at home!" they said. And so Mattermost was abandoned for Teams which is indeed already present in the ecosystem and isn't going away any time soon. Like herpes.
