  • Two number 9s, a number 9 large, a number 6 with extra dip, a number 7, two number 45s, one with cheese, and a large soda.

  • I think you’re wrong.

The glasses are absolutely smudged, but that is from the image processing on the phone. Low light most smartphones try to reduce noise by smoothing the picture, often excessively.

The text above the woman is not garbled nonsense, it says “

    <indecipherable>

is biGGer”. The upper case G’s makes it look strange, but it is cohesive text.

The shoes look to be another smoothing artifact.

  • Damn.. yeah those samples suggest ~6–8mg of plastic per gram of sample tissue in the brains from 2024 😟 That would be like 10 grams in an entire adult brain if the distribution is even.

“Thankfully” it looks like the brain has the highest concentration of all studied organs 🙃

  • Well, that’s the most horrifying thing I read in a while…

  • Exactly! Having “ice cream” and “death” as the only options doesn’t exactly foster a great discourse..

  • All of those images are AI generated. I would love for this to be real, but it is just a joke.

  • They are blaming the billionaires (or their companies), for making the thing nobody wanted so they can make money off of it. The guy making a five-breasted woman is a side effect.

And sure, that one image only uses a moderate amount of power. But there still exists giant data centers for only this purpose, gobbling up tons of power and evaporating tons of water for power and cooling. And all this before considering the training of the models (which you better believe they’re doing continuously to try to come up with better ones).

  • Cargo cult cat!

  • I’ve always tried to tell my SO this, but she’s been skeptical. Now, we’re renting a smaller apartment while renovating our bath, and she absolutely detests having only one sink basin!

  • The original post (not shown in the screenshot) is from PBS, that’s why it says “Author” by their name. If it was in English (likely) it makes sense to answer in English as well.

  • Have they considered not sending a bunch of kids to get maimed in proxy wars on the other side of the Earth?

  • You jest, but

  • Indeed! And they do under representational democracies. In a community there will always be some sort of law or code, whether written or not, that some members of that community disagree with.

  • Absolutely agree! First past the post will always drift toward larger and less representative parties. Even proportional representation can have this tendency, but it is much more resilient.

  • This is exactly what happens with democratic societies

No. This is what happens when you have two sides, both too large to really represent anyone, battling for a sliver of majority using increasingly diverging views and then exercising as much power as they can before the roles flip again.

In an actual democracy representatives of the people, with many differing views, sit down together and decide case by case on a solution that most can be happy with.

Someone will always disagree with any decision when we live in a large society, but a functioning democracy is the closest thing we have ever come to making sure that as many as possible are happy (and more importantly get a say).

  • Had? I bet you they still have people pushing the doors all the time.

  • Haha, no worries! Just caught me off guard
