  • unshakeably principled

He made it illegal to be gay.

  • One who takes the lives of the poor and the nonhuman as though they were property is of the owning class. Eating meat and driving a car is bourgeois. Only one who rejects their privilege to take the lives of others through property relations is a worker.

  • Car-hostile laws won't make you homeless, but they will make it so being too disabled to drive is less of a contributing factor to homelessness.

  • No, I am forced to do it. I lost my job and became homeless because I can't drive a car.

  • I'm clearly not understanding the problem, because I think the only answer is 14!. What am I getting wrong?

  • I love it when the top Google result for a problem is a thread saying to Google it. Exactly what I needed, thanks asshole.

  • Boo cars. I hate cars. I hope that car driver gets a massive fine.

  • No, it's good. It prevents people from supporting car polluters. Any law that harms car drivers is a good law.

  • Supporting car drivers means supporting pollution. OOP is bad.

  • Yes we would. And if we can't, the cheap food should be free.

  • There's nobody like that. You're talking about imaginary people. All human beings have a natural drive to do useful work.

  • What you don't have the right to is someone else to provide for you if you don't give anything back

Yes you do. Lots of people are on disability benefits, unemployment, a pension, or are literal children. And those programs should be expanded to cover everyone who doesn't work, not just those who can justify their existence to a government form.

  • You should. We're not cave people, it's the 21st century. We can provide for everyone easily.

  • Mastodon is just a bunch of news articles and people talking like robots. I try to engage and there's fucking nothing I care about. Anything actually interesting is like half a thought. Like they started talking about a topic but didn't get to the point before they decided to hit post. Posts from popular accounts talk about electoral politics in a weird clipped manner like a newspaper but even more boring.

  • I'm pretty sure Mastodon has algorithms. All internet infrastructure runs on algorithms, except for weird experimental AI stuff.

  • I don't think ownership was the point of the comment you replied to. I think the point was either taxing or eating the rich.

  • Same day delivery is not a significant factor in anyone's quality of life. We can slow down society to a human pace, and people's lives will get better. We can ban cars, and people's lives will get better.

  • We would need to sacrifice a significant amount of living standard to stop it right now,

No we wouldn't. Tax the rich and use the money to pay for green energy infrastructure, public transit, and denser housing. Boom, instant increase in jobs, transport options, and quality of life once the new walkable housing is done.

Tackling climate change is easy and it will make our lives better.

  • Nobody in history has ever been self sufficient for eggs. You need a chicken for that.
