  • All these claims are simply taking a look at a different angle.

It's like saying "cars pollute" and you reply with "but have you seen the beautiful colours they come in and how much faster than mules they are"

You are not wrong but neither are the people claiming humans are, as a herd, fairly dumb and incredibly selfish

  • The title reads: "we can solve the climate crisis, but we won't"

  • I don't read it as that... To me it looks like being afraid of leaving the closet causes homophobia

This is the same principle as small penis men buying large trucks... They are doubling down on the homophobia display to over compensate for their homosexuality

  • So translating Musk to reality, they probably have 2 robotic arms working of a pre programmed algorithm that make them go back and forward

  • If this isn't enough prove that wall street is just a giant gambling casino for the rich to speculate, nothing will be

  • Fair enough. And no worries - tone sometimes gets lost or misinterpreted when commenting on the intertubes :)

My kids often complain/make fun of me because I overuse the "..." they say I write too ominously LOL

Honestly, by the time we get to that point, I hope that mass transit has improved enough such that a car is no longer critical to have in most urban/semi-urban areas of America. But that also depends heavily on how politics pan out in the coming years.

For what it’s worth, I absolutely agree that the pervasive data-gathering bullshit they are trying to push on everyone is messed up.

I agree with you and hope you are right re public transit

  • This sort of prove my point that Twitter never was a good place for news anyway.

Perhaps you are right and it is a tool for journalists, but not being one, I am happy if it stops existing tomorrow. I am sure journalists would find a way as they did before Twitter

  • not sure why it seems that you’re negging me for trying to wring as much life as possible out of a car? This is a very reasonable and feasible approach to take if you’re somewhat mechanically inclined, as I am.

Absolutely not. Sorry if I came across that way, I am actually on your "team" and plan to do the same with my current 7 year old car. I am not super mechanically inclined but I have learned enough for the basic maintenance: brakes, oil changes, general diagnostics.

The reason I was kind of grilling you is because I am looking ahead and thinking I will find myself in your spot. Eventually I will have to replace the car and I have no clue what to get that does not imply: 1) being spied on by the car and 2) paying for hardware that is useless unless I also pay a subscription.

Now back to the original point. Sure today you can pull a fuse and maybe disable the spying; specially since the car would be out of warranty or you don't care to risk losing it. However, if the trends continue, this could be something that renders your car uninsurable and would mean not legal to drive.

On my last insurance renewal, Belair argued heatedly with me because I refused to add their app on my phone to track my "driver behaviour". They insisted it would lead to a discount but I refused anyway. If they make it a mandatory requirement of insurance, we are fucked.

  • There’s nothing inherent to running a business that implies cannibalizing one’s own brand reputation for short term profits

True but only for a snapshot in time. When the expectation of the environment is unlimited growth and profit above all else, the quick cash out in lieu of long term gains is inevitable sooner or later

You can find countless examples of businesses where the brand’s reputation for quality, reliability, and safety are considered sacred and any employee who publicly damages that reputation is ostracized. Japanese companies pretty commonly have these cultures, for example.

Oh outside of the USA yes, I can see that... In the USA, I think I would count such examples with 1 hand (talking about large companies and corporations, not Mom and Pop shops of course)

  • So you just like the new lazy writing. Got it.

No idea where you are drawing this from

Because I know you didn't just draw a straight line from the 1939 Batman to the current Batman and was like 'these are the same!'

Oh I see, you lack reading comprehension. To make it extra clear, having a common trait (what I actually said) does not mean "these are the same"

And this is where we part ways. Cuz this is a threat about opinions I gave mine and you are clearly mad that I don't like your favorite version of Batman.

I'm not mad at all... Disagreeing with you does not make me your enemy... You care confusing me with yourself lol

  • I meant, eventually you'll run out of options and, even if buying used, you may be stuck with models that have all the tracking crap

  • Yes I get that, but what's the point of "twitter for journalists" if we separate that from people consuming said news? Basically you are saying Twitter is a great note gathering tool for journalists?

Even your claim that it was a great source for journalists I find sus. Maybe lazy journalists that only parrot twitter quotes. Where is the investigation? Corroboration? Context?

I'm not sure how good X is for either but I'm pretty sure nether experience will have improved.

    In this we agree 100%

  • Yeah no. I think you're confused because Batman Begins came out in 2005 which was decades ago.

I'm talking about Batman the character, you know? The one first published in 1939. There have been multiple versions but "dark and broody" has been a pretty common trait

If you forgot he's actually also known as Bruce Wayne and he knows how to smile and have a good time

No, it's been well established he cannot get past the trauma of having his parents murdered in front of him. Actually, it has been well established he is now Batman and Bruce is the disguise... So no, he doesn't really know how to have a good time

Post Nolan he is has lost a lot of complexity. That complexity of the character offset his serious side when the cowl came on.

Not really Nolan's fault and not what you claimed first either. Batfleck for example was not dark and broody, he was just a fumbling idiot who claimed his superpower was money

Look me dead in the eye and tell me Nolan's Batman is better than BTAS. Or is even in the same ballpark

Again moving the goal post ... What does BTAS have to do with your comment that Nolan made Batman dark and broody??

  • And what happens when you inevitably have to change it?

  • Is it different for used "newish" cars? Or were you referring to used "pre 2018" cars?

  • Translation: power hungry man sees a chance to gain power and disregards the cost

  • Batman has been dark and broody decades before the Nolan trilogy.

There have been lighter versions but dark and broody are basically core qualities of the character

  • When you run an engineering company as a business, you wind up with no business at all

  • I'm a consumer of news, how would I compare my experience to someone using it professionally?

I'm saying watching baseball was boring and you are telling me playing baseball is fun. Two different things
