Yeah you can use Tor as an example of "Resistance" infrastructure, it only really exists because Western governments themselves need to use it and the asymmetry in how information can be shared in western countries vs the enemies of western countries makes the calculus more in favor to let it operate. iirc most Tor nodes are in 5 eyes countries. The government could just force everyone into closed source backdoored apps if they really wanted too.
Really the only way to have "Resistance" infrastructure is to have another state actor aligned with it. The enemy of our enemy is our friend after all.
Your suppose to create a monopoly THEN shittify your product with ads. OpenAI is like speedrunning being a big tech company before our own eyes, it lines up from what I hear from people working there.
Not only has he done the most for African Americans (With the possible exception of Lincoln of course) but seems like hes trying to do the same for Native Americans too! YUGE!!
In the US you will have like 4? US History classes throughout your primary education, all will have a large section on civil rights, and all will focus almost exclusively on MLK and non-violent feminist activists. I think we spent a whole section in English class once about "Civil Disobediance" and most kids have a negative attitude towards guns due to yk,, school shootings. I think Malcom X was mentioned in passing in high school? But essentially people grow up primed to the idea of non-violent protest as THE form of change. I don't we ever even mentioned the coal wars
Will be replaced with robots teleoperated from the 3rd world. Now you don't even need to have your slaves in the same continent as you! Technology is truly amazing
What would "teaching" ethics even do, JD Vance has his own ethical framework and to him this all makes sense, presenting him another framework will not change anything.
Being a young twenty year old living apart from your parents among your peers with lots of free time to study and develop your talents enlightens you and rounds you out.
I really never got this from my time at university, I guess I'm curious what "enlightenment" you felt you got out of it.
Evil people congregate in everywhere. I wouldn’t put this on universities specifically
Agreed but I get annoyed at people who have this idea of if we just educate everyone -> utopia and that conservatism is a function of undereducation, just look at what party german universities supported in the 1930s. It leads to kind of whigist thinking where we see more education happening -> more enlightened people -> better people when in the end its really just a tool
People who talk about how college makes you "Enlightened", "Well Rounded", etc. always baffle me. These elite prestigious institutions graduate some of the most evil and diabolical human beings driven purely by greed and prestige. Socrates was wrong guys you don't have to keep defending him
I forgot about the 90s but yeah good point. I never heard of "shock therapy" before but seems interesting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_therapy_(economics) , seems like its a Retronym for describing IMF inspired market reforms. Good way to keep a country down :D
Weirdly if its actually just drug cartel assets (I doubt) this seems like smart way to increase Latino support? Most don't have much good to say about the cartels (many leaving due to them). There own country seems to be bought out by them so Trump being this almost knight in shining armor seems like an interesting idea? Its actual effectiveness does not matter, perceptions rule all.
I think the upper middleclass-rich Democrats who lead the think tanks really haven't internalized how conservative (I think this past decade they have slowly realized) alot of immigrant groups are, my family is full of people who honestly are more aligned conservative but the idea of republicans being a "white" party is what stops them. Trump essentially has to square the circle of a party of conservative immigrants, billionaires, libertarians, and neo-nazis
