  • I thought they drove on the left in Wales?

  • I like Fluent Reader, it looks nice, can fetch full articles, and IIRC caches them locally for offline viewing, don't quote me on that last one though.

  • When you post a link, you can add a thumbnail image URL! In the default lemmy-ui, it should be right under where you upload an image :)

  • Oh, I've never played CS 1.6 so I can't directly comment but the main thing I hear is how different the mechanics are.

I imagine nostalgia plays no small role, as well.

  • They're completely different games, but if you're unfamiliar with the Counter-Strike series I can see how it can be confusing.

Counter-Strike 1.6 refers to the original game in the series, which ran on the GoldSrc engine. The "1.6" refers to the final release of this game from 2000.

The next installments in the series were Counter-Strike: Source (2004) and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (2012) which both ran on the Source engine.

Counter-Strike 2 was released in 2023, as an update replacing CS:GO. It runs on the Source 2 engine, which is to what the "2" in the name is referring.

  • Oops, I didn't see that part of the question, my bad! I sure hope rice stays affordable, that and tofu represent like half my diet :P

  • Lentils and potatoes for sure, but we don't really grow rice in Canada. There are some examples, but we get our rice from the US, Thailand, and India, as well as many other countries. I eat rice very regularly and I have no doubt I've never eaten rice grown on Canadian soil.

  • I got a new job, and the group chat is on WhatsApp, so I'm looking into running a Synapse server with a bridge to it. I really don't want to have to use Meta's apps on my phone.

From what I've read so far, it seems like it's going to be the most convoluted install process I'll have encountered in my self-hosting journey. I'm excited to tackle it, but also a bit overwhelmed. Which is why I've been putting it off :P

  • Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick. I've always loved this song, it has a mix of different styles, from flute-forward chill sections to more classic rock sounding parts.

Oh and it's over 43 minutes long. Before anyone says "oh but there's part 1 and part 2", this was a limitation of vinyl and not the artistic intent behind the piece. It's one song, fight me.

  • You're right, thanks for adding context. I'm immediately suspicious when a picture is posted with no accompanying news article, and my search wasn't turning up any articles, only social media links.

Here's a French article about it.

  • Ah gosh, I've actually never even ridden a fixie and this thread is really making me itch and want to buy one.

  • Doug Ford is such an absolute fucker. I think he (and the Ford family in general) are a manifestation of everything wrong in Canada right now.

This poster is bomb though, props to whoever designed it.

  • priaprism

I had to look this up, and wow, the image on the Wikipedia article for priaprism is... well, it's something.

  • Sticks were maybe the first human technology and we've yet to top it to this day.

  • We've tried talking, we've tried percussive maintenance, now it's time to take things up a notch and let these silly little machines know who's boss.
