  • Missed the 'and why'.

    • GrapheneOS
    • CalyxOS
    • LineageOS

I've tried quite a few other custom ROMs in the past.

I'm using those because of privacy. Plus, I feel like they are very lightweight comparing stock ROM.

After the new changes Google would make, I'd install custom ROM, even if I didn't care about privacy. So I'll be able install any app I desire. From F-Droid, GitHub, amd even apps like Vanced.

  • Not exactly sure what you're asking.

    • Can you share links to a custom ROM?
    • Can you recommend a custom ROM?
    • Do you use any custom ROM?

I THINK you ask about the 3rd option.

I've used, and still using GrapheneOS, CalyxOS, and LineageOS.

Also tried a few others in the past.

  • There's no Linux, MacOS, and Windows. There's only 'computer'. The computer works or does not.

Sometimes they'll know Apple has computers too, and they're different. That's usually basically it.

  • I don't believe most people would know about the change, and if they will, I doubt they'll care.

As long stuff don't break, people don't care about OSs. It's just as nerds.

  • I mean, split tunneling is a feature most VPNs supports, so why work harder for worse setup.

  • I don't get it, honestly.

Just do split tunneling, and exclude a secondary browser or something. Way better setup, IMO.

Plus, you don't need to search for tons for extensions, which might not be official/trusted; and it's better to have a backup browser anyway.

  • Mint with Gnome/KDE/other DE?

  • Unless it's a privacy issue for you, it would be easier –IMO– to find help if you'll share the exact model you have, and the custom ROM you're using.

  • I'd recommend Shelter over a regular user, so you won't have to switch between them; but it works too, if you prefer it this way.

  • Have you tried creating another 'profile' (user)?

I've used banking apps on LOS and GrapheneOS, it worked great and never complained.

  • IronFox or Fennec.

As another commenter said, you also have Tor, but it's not day-to-day browser, IMO.

  • Fairphone 5 with CalyxOS?

No updates, but you'll have one of the best Android OSs, and a SD card slot.

  • Wouldn't you want something more bleeding edge like Arch? Or at least Fedora, or something like openSUSE Tumbleweed?

(I understand it wouldn't work for the meme, so let's say Fedora.)

    • The fricking AUR
    • Nothing I don't actually need
    • Pacman
    • Everything is the latest version available–ALWAYS.
    • ArchWiki
  • El. Psy. Kongroo Kongari.

  • Life.

  • You're connected to a cell tower/to a router.

Your ISP can see your address before connecting to the VPN.
